I'm 20 years old and i LOVE sam cooke..i wish i could go back in time and meet him. His music is great and listening to it i can see how he influenced many singers today.
I would like to know what happened to barbara campbell? is she still alive? How many children did Sam have and did they all grow up together? -

Welcome to the discussion. Barbara is still alive and living in the South. She and Sam had 3 children together, one of which (Vincent) died in a pool accident as a toddler in 1963. Tracey and Linda are his daughters.
Sam had 4 other children of which one of those, Denise Somerville, is currently deceased. The others are in California, Illinois and Pennsylvania.

Thanks for the info! i have another question..what is Sam Cooke's middle name? everywhere i see his bio I see Samuel L. Cooke ..what does the L stand for? It's really great having one of his family members answering the fan's questions!

some of the bios online said Samuel L..they need to check their info lol.thanks!
