Just read "Dear Tom: Letters from Home". A beautiful piece of literature. Not an autobiography in the traditional sense, as it is centered around weekly letters sent him by his mother after he left home to go to London and start University.
Anyone who loves social history and the era he come fromhe was born 1937, and the book focuses a lot on the fifties and sixties as well as earlier years with glimpses to later decades as wellwill enjoy this book. It's family history, but it is in the context of the world he was living in, and it's just beautifully done, and a wonderful tribute to his mother. I don't want to give away a lot of detail. It's a good read. If you like biographies, and are interested in England, theatre and film of the early sixties, check it out.

I just love his cinematic work. He's obviously an extremely sensitive and warm hearted individual that's capable of breaking your heart through his portrayals of men that underwent harrowing experiences. God bless Tom Courtenay. May he live many more productive years and continue to make us empathize with his beautifully developed characters. What a wonderful actor and decent human being!!
