Gosh. I always hear of these child actors ending up in burger bars and restaurants and workplaces of the like. I can't help feel sorry for them. Of course, I can understand when fame becomes a cage, but at the same time I just love Joey's work in this film. He truely gives David a wonderful human111c feeling, and I believe its his presence in the film which adds greatly to the warmth and wonder of the film that captivated so many of us as children.

I am very sorry to hear that he had problems after making the movie as it was, and continues to be, one of my all-time favorites, and mostly because of him. I have recently passed it on to my son, who is five, and he loves it also.

I looked up Joey Cramer because my son has been watching Flight of the Navigator over and over for the last couple of weeks. I am sad to hear he has not been in anything since the 1990s but I am glad he did the Flight of the Navigator, he acted so well in it and gave the character warmth. It was always a favorite of mine so I am glad my children who are 3 1/2 and 2 love it so much.

Im glad to here he is doing better, the last thing I want is that kids are in trouble.
I did wonder if the cast and crew of the Flight of the Navigator were a tight "family"? Because altough it was a "small" movie, everything is right in that film, it all fits.
The actors, the story, everything.
I loved the scene of them at a fuelstation the most, with the man who works there..he said he wanted to phone home..HILARIOUS
If you see Joey, tell him I think he did a great job in this film and in the Santa Claus, I still wathc that film EVERY christmas, it belongs to Christmas.

That's a real shame that he had such troubles. I grew up watching him, and while he was not the best actor he had real potentialand a real watchability to him.
I'm merely curious, what kind of problems did he have??

People shouldn't feel too sorry for him because his problems were self-inflicted. He got into hard drugs in a big way after Navigator, ripped off/mistreated a lot of people in Vancouver (speaking from personal experience, not gossip) and generally made himself extremely unpopular. He became persona non grata in the film industry and couldn't get hired. So he didn't exactly decide to leave the business, it left him.
Last time I saw him he was working in a sporting goods store in Sechelt, British Columbia, on the Sunshine Coast. -

You are pretty much right, mrsatan. Sechelt is a very quiet little seaside town where nothing much happens at all. I can't imagine what the cops do all day besides confiscate booze from guys drinking on the beach. there's the odd house break-in, as there's lots of places sitting empty over the winter, used only during the summer months by off-coast visitors. I lived there for a few years and was bored out of my mind. Loads of seniors (and I am one too so not knocking them) but unless you like hanging out at the Legion or playing bridge, good luck for a social life!
