Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Candy Darling

Why does IMDB classify Candy Darling as an "Actor" rather than an "Actress" when she was a pre-operative transsexual??

With no intention of provoking a debate, I don't consider transsexuals, pre or post op, to be women as physical structure determines only a small percentage of gender.

With no intention of provoking a debate, I'd consider Miss Darling an absolutely fabulous star. Period.
          😉

A better question is why is imdb still using the word actress at all?

Because it is a common term that everybody understands 16d0and most people accept as a good way to tell Pat O`Brien from Pat Crowley.

His IMDb profile now says "actress".
