So, I'm just gonna throw it out there
I'm a big fan of David's films, and I am a big fan of Bert I Gordon too.
I think David Decoteau would be the perfect person to write/direct an updated spin off this H. G. Wells classic! (And Gordon used this as inspiration also)
Wells' original story focused on a substance that made animals and humans grow larger. Considering our current culture, this story is more relevant than ever.
What if a bunch of hot hormonal college athletes take the "food" to get bigger and stronger, but instead grow to colossal size, and then wreak havoc on their college campus? Sounds like something that David could really go to town with, and make into a wickedly entertaining and homoerotic fantasy film!
I know there are some haters on here, so please ignore if your disgusted by the thought, I just thought it would be a cool movie to watch. Obviously it's not anything more than wishful thinking, but I thought I'd post the idea to see if there is anyone else that might like it also.
I am looking forward to any new projects from The Man, so it's all in good fun!

I like the original, and no Dave is not the right director for a remake.
And your idea feels more like a remake of the VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS version.

Yeah, the "Village of the Giants" adaptation was more in line of what I had in mind, and I thought it would be worth a modern update. The basic story in VOTG was interesting, but I'd like to see something different, closer to the later part of Wells original story.
It's probably never going to happen, but like I said, I was just throwing it out there.
David is already doing one Wells-based film, so I doubt he'll do a second.
Perhaps someone else will give it a try one day.
        Thanks for the reply!

          Hot damn!
I have no idea about the plot, but no matter the plot changes or style, I bet it will be fun
I can't wait to see this!!!!
          Thank you, Mr. Decoteau!

I think his new "1313: Giant Killer Bees" IS his "Food of the Gods" remake. The first "1313" movie ("Nightmare Mansion") was god-awful. But I've already pre-ordered "Killer Bees"maybe I'll be surprised. I really have liked some of his other films.

Not a fan, so I haven't really kept track of any of his films after he directed PUPPET MASTER: AXIS OF EVIL. Have you seen this KILLER GEES since? Just how much of a remake is it?

I'm sure this is the film he originally meant as the FOOD OF THE GOD remakebut it's NOTHING like the original or the book. You get bad CGI giant bees. That's it. (And guys in underwear) It's a complete waste of everyone's time and money (including the viewer's). AVOID!!!

Don't expect much from Dave anyway. Aside from his feitsh, but feelings not mutual.

The main problem with that would be where he's going to find the budget to have the mandatory tighties whities made in giant sizes.
