Bottom line even if his accent is a bit off, he gets some of the best lines in the show and delivers flawlessly! If the accent annoys you, I think the annoyance would be quickly diminished by the character himself.

Someone may have mentioned thisbut while it's a fictional "world" to begin with, as well as having perhaps the entire cast being from all over Europe, wouldn't all of the actors accents vary to begin with?
I'm from the states and I've been able to fool Europeans into believing in from the UK, having grown up listening to punk music. While I'm not from the UK, I think Peter's accent is more than believable! Has anyone heard Madonnas game accent? Now that's pathetic.. -

Speaking as someone who has actually done numerous English accents, I would have to agree. His is quite pathetic in fact. I knew he was an American from the moment I heard him.

Stating it's a fictional world doesn't give any credits. The world and the accents are based on England, according to producers. That's why North have Northern English accents and the South Southern Engli7ecsh.
Whether they sound authentic or not is another question..
