Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Jeffrey Donovan

This just amuses me to no end. Parker Posey and Bruce Willis are two in the past I recall hearing say this.
Pity people didn't do this while these folks were 'popular' and 'on TV'!
    Then where would they be?

I'm not sure that Jeffrey Donavan' s preference for enjoying outdoor activities correlates to him being ungrateful for his success on television or a lack of appreciation toward the industry. It most likely is simply a statement describing his need to distance himself from something that was too closely tied to his job. Not being a couch potato is hardly something to apologize for. He seems to enjoy being physically active and enjoys a range of martial arts as past interviews suggest.

I guess you and a lot of others think everyone's life revolves around tv. Most of the time, actors have irregular schedules, spend a lot of time (up to 20 hours) on sets, work for 6 months straight and then nothing for 4 months it's not exactly ideal to follow a tv show, even if there are a few that would be worth following.
Movies are easier. you pop them in, watch and you're done.
Also, most tv is made for idiots now so there you go.

Hey, thanks, friend. I value someone telling me what I and others think. It's important and definitely helps explain things to a greater clarity. Thanks again.

I don't know about you, but I sometimes hate watching other people do what I do. Because I know what goes into it. I'd think it would be worse for an actor. You'd be analyzing everything that happens from a technical perspective and find it difficult to buy into the fantasy or see the end product without knowing how they got there. I can totally understand why an actor might not want to watch t.v. after doing that all day long. Unless it were something really different or the acting exceptional.
It might be a bit like a contractor who builds houses. It's always fun walking through a house with a contractor. The things I see and the things he sees are entirely different. He doesn't even see a "house". He sees, joists and wall thickness, wallboard and soffits, and on and on and on.
