That goes without saying. You should see his 10 minute scene in Phil Spector. He's the best thing in the movie.

I love the scene when he gets out the car and shoots the policeh*ll the whole scene is amazing. Great movie.
Idk if you saw Kinky Boots. He plays a drag queen named Lola. Excellent and a not a bad looking5b4 woman I might add.

I saw Kinky Boots a long time ago and never realized it was Chiwetel Ejiofor (I didn't have a clue who he was at the time) until I read your comment.
I loved it, and he was excellent.

I agree that he is better than Will Smith but Will was a rapper that was given the opportunity to act. British actors generally tend to take the craft of acting more seriously and tend to be less commercial so I think that's a uneven comparison.

Truth is they don't have much of a choice. There isn't much scope or opportunity like there is in America.

There are a ton of actors, black or otherwise, who are much better than Will Smith. Smith really isn't all that good of an actor so it's not that high of a bar to surpass.

Agree, in part, with snakesmart. I'm not sure what the criteria is to be considered for movies, but Will Smith began as a rapper. His song "Parents Just Don't Understand" was the theme song for the show in which he starred "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." Smith, like other Hollywood celebrities, also has international fame so he has seemingly worked on cultivating his image in places around the world, not just within the USA. Granted, none of that means he is necessarily a "good" actor (which, by definition, is subjective) but it's an unfair comparison to someone specifically trained in the performing arts.
Ironically, one of the things people seem to appreciate about Smith is his confidence and charisma, which also seems to be the reason some people don't like him. Conversely, Ejiofor seems humble and grateful for the experiences he's having - something some would not say has ever applied to Smith.

Honestly, I'm tired of these stupid "this person versus that person" debates, as if two good actors/actresses can't even exist on the same planet. Give it a rest, please. Both Smith and Ejiofor are good actors (the former being, I think, much better than he's ever gotten credit for over the years) so folks should just leave it at that. Also there have been a lot of rappers who have turned out to be pretty damn good actors as wellLL Cool J, Mos Def (who was actually an actor before he was a rapper, anyway) Queen Latifah, Sticky Fingers, Fredro Starr,Ice Cube (who's currently starring in one of the most recent box office surprise smash hits,RIDE ALONG) Eve (who starred in her own hit show years ago) and of course, Marky Mark Wahlberg, who's still acting to this day (currently in the film LONE SURVIVOR.)
My point is, being a rapper isn't a gauge of the level of any potential actor's talenteither you got it, or you don't. I really don't get the hate for Smith anyway, who's worked hard at being an international star, so he's earned his success, period. I don't see why he even has to be compared to Ejiofor in the first place, other than them both being black.

I agree with this as well. The comparisons are endless (and pointless, since they rely on subjectiveness).
They are both good performers. End of story.

I don't think you can compare them. Ejiofor is a successful actor and Smith is a successful film star, and both are very good at what they do.
