Why did her character leave Spin City?

To be honest they seemed to make very weird casting choices on that show. First they got rid of her when she quite often stirred up the pot on the show, then a year later they got rid of ALexander Chaplin who was also hysterical.
By all means the rest of the cast was funny, just never made sense to make the ensemble smaller. -

Jennifer left Spin City becuase Spike Lee told her while shooting summer of sam if she wanted to be taken as a "serious" actress she would have to get off of a sitcom.
It was bad and snobbish advice from Spike. She never got any huge roles in movies and is now back on a sitcom. She is a great and funny actress and her niche is sitcoms. -

I know this is way late but they didn't let Chaplin go, he, along with Connie Britton and Victoria Dillard (Nikki and Janelle) simply chose not to continue on the show, most likely because the show was moving filming from NY to LA.

I would be surprised if it didn't have something to do with the fact that Charlie Sheen is complete ASS. I think it would be horrible to have to work with an overgrown BABY who is an alcoholic, a drug addict and a user of people as much as substances. Of course that's just my personal opinion but from what I've seen it's pretty much fact rather than perception

WOW! People really let their hatred for Charlie Sheen cloud their judgement, so far that he gets blamed for someone leaving a year before he got there. I guess she figured he would join the cast eventually she would leave while she could. Actually Charlie was no worse than Michael was on the show, and he would have worked better with Jennifer than he did with Heather.
