I didn't even realize until getting to his page on IMDb that he is a pretty solid actor and that he has directed such films as Made, Elf and then Iron Man That's pretty impressive, to go from Swingers, (great film) to Iron Man, show's a pretty wide range of talent IMHO. Dude's got skills.

He must be one of the most overall versatile people in the industry.
The guy acts in comedies (he is VERY funny I might add) and directed a super-popular, very well made, action-packed comic book movie, while also writing and producing.
      I just don't understand.
He kind of blows my mind a little.

He is very talented. I've been impressed with him for a while now, actually. His directing skills are great, his acting is great, even in romcom Love & Sex I thought he shined through.

I have been watching this lately and you can sure see he has a hunger for learning every minor detail about film making and acting he can. Every anecdote from his guests has his attention. He is genuinely eager to learn every aspect of film making it seems and acts like he can learn something from anyone. That has to be a rare trait in Hollywood one would think. Most I assume are pretty stubborn.
The show is a decade old now, but you can see why he's done quit well. He seems to have some solid technical knowledge but is not above learning or getting others points of view.
Cowboys was pretty bad, and that was surprising. But who's to say how much control he really had. I have to think others messed it up. Felt like a very meddled with project. The guy will no doubt make some more great films down the road

I like how when he acts in a role, you almost don't recognize him I mean c'mon, how could he be the same guy who played his most famous 16d0roles (Swingers, etc.) and also be "Pete the dot-com billionaire who's into UFC" in Season 3 of Friends? Amazing That's not even touching his mad directing skillz.

It does amaze me that this guy is a very sucessful director and could easily make a living off of that for the rest of his life. But no, he's also a decent actor on the side so I say good for him. I wonder though, if he does just for fun or being an actor helps as a director.

On the special features for Iron Man they are showing him the scene where Stark first flies out of his garage. In the scene they had partially done they had Stark doing a roll on the way up. Favreau said "that's just a little too flashy" At that moment the reason Iron Man was so good came clearly into focus. He's detail orented and obviously cares a lot about the characters. I was worried about Iron Man 2 till I heard he was directing again. Can't wait.

thank you jon for Iron Man 2, very entertaining movie, accomplished in every aspect(casting for instance, cheadle instead of howard ftw),
the only thing that bumped me a little was rourkes highlights and jacksons eyepatch.

He reminds me of Ben Affleck. Better Director than Actor, but the main difference between these two is that Favreau is a better actor than Affleck.

as being somone who has worded jon a number of times. He is a fantastic person and a dream to work with. he has more talent and dictional capability then most directors. When he has a dream, he makes it real. :Many movies wouldt be the same without him.

I find his movies to be entirely bland and safe to the point of being boring. I mean Elf was a cute film, but Iron Man 1 and 2 were as vanilla as you could get. No style, no flair, just bland story telling and cliche plots.
