She actually appeared twice in the first season, as two different characters. I think that's a record in the history of sitcoms. I like her, but I can't help but wonder if that was an example of favoritism.

Another good example would be Allan Melvin (http://www.imdb.com/board/20578510/filmoseries#tt0053479), who appeared in 8 episodes of the Andy Griffith show, playing a different character each time!! And before that, he appeared on multiple episodes of the Dick Van Dyke show, usually playing a different character each time, there, too.

Jack Riley appeared as 2 se5b4parate characters in Mary Tyler Moore. Not technically in the same season but less than a year apart in air dates. Once in season 2 and again in season 3. The same for Richard Schaal who played Howard Arnell and Chuckles the Clown both in one season and the following season played Howard's brother Paul. There, I'm sure are others but I have to sit and think about it. Both shows had the same production company (mTm) and they shuffled actors back and forth. Not uncommon, really. I actually came here to look up Pat's filmography because I JUST saw her in "Warden Gorden Borden" and wasn't 100% it was her. I think she looks better here with darker hair and I totally like her character here. Not saying she wasn't MARVELOUS in MTM. Her character was just very annoying, lol! Brilliant actress.
