I think I found what you're talking about now, and that's for total philanthropy spending on gay issues. Some of it being government funded but private donations making up most of it. And it's for stuff like health care or lobbying for legal protections. Really scandalous.

It's not being done for ****s and giggles. Why not try actually reading the links and looking at the justifications for each project? There's legitimate gaps in medical knowledge and mice are the most common test subjects in early stage research.
By the way the NIH funds tens of billions of dollars in grants every year and you're talking about a few million for an understudied group of people that make up about 1% of the population. I'm sure that's not the entire amount of trans research but if they were getting a proportional amount of grant money that would be something like $400 million a year. I doubt they're getting that much. -

You fill out a ****load of paperwork and documentation for whatever the project is and then keep a ****load more paperwork to give the feds showing how the money was used, but what does that have to do with anything?

Of the $905 million the US government was only about 3% of that total. Similar to Canada and Sweden, or half as much as the Netherlands. Jeff Bezos' ex wife donated more than that just by herself. Meanwhile there were also $1 billion donated to anti gay groups over that same time frame. Are you going to throw a tantrum about people donating to that too?
