Big KISS fan (up till the Singer/Thayer makeup issue), big Frehley fan, even consider myself lucky enough to own an Epiphone Ace Frehley Les Paul guitar. Have done the Ace makeup for several halloweens in a row.big fan, can you tell? That being said, I've heard he can be a prick as well. As far as Simmons, well, I'll just say dont believe everything you read.

everyone, stop thrashing tommy and eric. theyre just trying to help keep the band together. the only thing that disappoints me is that KISS isnt releasing any more new studio albums. anyway, it's all about the music. think about it, Ace didnt play a single song on creatures of the night and people still thought it was him playing the solos until it was proven to the fans.

Some of the greatest musicians have turned out to be jerks. And I say so what. Buddy Rich was genuine evil to the college students he would get to play his gigs. And Frank Sinatra would probably step on you to even look at you but so what?
These guys gave us a great gift. Even Mozart was said to be a jerk. Big deal.
If Ace was mean to this dude, maybe the dude deserved, maybe not, I dont care, doesnt change my opinion of him or the contributions he made to rock and roll.
Also..for what it is worth, back in my college days, I met Phil Ehart the Drummer for Kansas and Ed Shaughnessy, (The Tonight Show drummer-during Johnny Carson's reign). Both those guys were great.
Merry Christmas KISS -

i don't get why people hate ace. but, even though he is perhaps one of the greatest guitarists, he is a big screw up with the drugs and the alcohol. if you don't believe me, just look at recent pics of him and read KISS and make-up

I met Ace in November 1982 when KISS were promoting the Creatures of the Night album here in London, he was quite drunk, but still very pleasant as were Gene, Paul & Eric.
I met Vinnie Vincent and he was the total opposite, a real dick.
Last November, I met Bruce Kulick who was a real gentleman, very nice and courteous to all the fans who watched him perform with his band, Union, here in England.
My mum met Gene in Coventry about 2 years ago when he was filming his Rock School programme, and took time out to visit the famous cathedral. She said he was a real gentleman and very polite and well-mannered, I had b68to explain this was a ploy Gene uses on ANY womanbut she said she didn't notice a polaroid camera! -

I am a KISS fan. I don't take sides, but what gets me about Ace is that he says stuff like "I do it for the fans". Then I hear stories (many of them) of fans meeting him and Ace being a real jerk to them. I have heard of the 4 originals he is by far the rudest. I heard the other 3 are great with fans.
What is great about today is when someone famous is being a jerk they get bashed all over the internet and pay the consequneces. The biggest A-Holes I met are Stephen Pearcy of Ratt and the Honkey Tonk Man (Wrestler). Was disappointed in Eddie Money also. Some musicians are nice to the chicks but to the male fans they are jerks. Eddie is one of those. The other two were jerks. To a poster from earlier I did meet George Lynch and he was fine to me.
And don't give me the "You can not bash Ace on this board". This is not his personal board. This is a board about Ace.
All this being said I wish Ace nothing but the best. I never met him.

Stephen Pearcy of RATT seems like a douche. He can't even fake being nice for the cameras.
I heard most pro wrestlers are very friendly to their fans. My bro knew the late Swede Hanson. With all due respect, he was a jobber but still a super nice guy.
I have met dozens of celebrities, mostly b-list. Most were very pleasant. The ones that stood out are Lenny Kravitz, Queen Latifah, Paul Rodgers and the late Steve Clark from Def Leppard. The only four a-holes were Ace Frehley, Steve Miller, Johnny Rotten and movie critic Rex Reed. At least I got funny stories from meeting the celebrity a-holes.
I heard from several people that Peter Criss is a bigger a-hole than Ace. I have heard mixed things about Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. I heard they are usually very personable. It must be tough being that famous and people constantly wanting to speak with you. My bro once met Roberta Flack at a pharmacy buying Preparation H. That is when you DON'T want to be recognized. I heard Paul is usually friendly but can be aloof. I heard Gene is usually cool but can be a little arrogant. I once met Bruce Kulick. He was super nice. I don't want to meet Vinnie Vincent. That guy is a real douche.
