Has anyone read Ace's new memoir, "No Regrets"? I'm halfway through it, and it's an excellent read. He focuses mostly on the music, which is all I really care about anyway. I especially appreciate h5b4is thoughts on his albums with Kiss and the producers he's worked with.
Of course, Paul, Gene and even Peter may differ on a few points regarding them, but Ace backs up his views very well and I'm inclined to believe him (when his memory serves him). -

I have read too. It's nice seeing Ace stick up for himself. I mean stuff Gene and Paul say has to be taken with a grain of salt to say the least. Those two have ruined Kiss fr me in many different ways. Let alone having impossters in the band.
Ihave always been and Ace fan. I have to say he has turned out to be and very good story teller. If you are into Kiss and or Ace I would say read this book!

Thanks for the reply. You make great points. What Gene and Paul say is filtered through the Kiss marketing machine, while Ace has nothing to lose by telling the truth. The fact that he spends so much time detailing the songwriting, production and performances here makes this a must-read for fans of Kiss in general and Ace in particular. Of course, there's also the backstory, but not at the expense of what's truly relevant.
I'll continue to buy Kiss' albums and never give up on them, but frankly, I've found their recent output extremely disappointing and wish they'd quit relying on 35-year-old songs. They're more about hits and hype these days. Of course, that's been the case for decades now. -

I honestly did not enjoy the book, too much on his addictions and lack of memory of it all. I would have liked much more on the music he wrote, guitar and studio information.
I am a big Ace fan and glad he did survive after reading this book.. This may be a rumor but I heard he is writing another book with more on the music, etc. That I will look forward to reading.
New Kiss tour angers me as Tommy Thayer continues to wear Ace's makeup and costumes.. get a REAL life dude. But I give Ace credit as he really did not bad mouth anyone and goes on and does his thing. -

Yes, the book had quite a bit about the addictions, but I was still please with the amount of attention he gave to songs, albums, producers and musicianship. I was surprised at what a nice guy he appears to be from the book. It would be hard to bluff that if it weren't true.
I'd love to read another book just about the music, though that's really where most of my interest lies. I wonder how likely that is to happen?
The new lineup with Tommy Thayer wearing Ace's digs is really just a greatest hits/tribute band. I still buy their new albums, but I can't say I care for them.
