Surely there has never been a more inept, puerile, unaware, cringewort111chy unempathic, embarrassing hosting of a panel of stars and one megastar in the history of broadcasting.
He went from humiliating over the top sycophancy and fawning over Micky Rooney, to treating both his panel members and members of the audience with total disdain.
It would have been FAR better if he'd have let Rooney, who was razor sharp, take over, rather than tiresomely reiterating ad nauseam his love for him.
It was only at Rooney's behest that he reluctantly did the Q&A.
HE
actually
caused
embarrassment over Marvin Kaplan, and then to hide his own ineptitude he seeks to belittle Kaplan.
He has absolutely no idea of "carrying" a joke, promulgating excitement and interest, context, when to talk when to shut up, how to actually deal with those of an advanced age
HE IS HOPELESS!
He is a master of stating the bleeding obvious, and bringing things down. Even when Karen Kramer has something whispered to her he hasn't got the good taste, tact, professionalism to leave it be.
In the Q&A I would have loved to have heard how Micky went in Australia, but he disdainfully dismissed it.
As an interviewer he REALLY sucks.
He just doesn't get it.
