I guess that makes the majority of the educated world insane then. When the majority are not against marriage equality it is already a victory. At this point changing the law is just a formality.

The level of bigotry on display in this thread is tanatamount to embarrassment of the human race and how far we have progressed in the last century alone.
You could take any one of Martin Luther King's speeches and change the world "black" to "gay" and the main premise of his argument would resound all the same.
The simple fact is that people use religious argument, the "sanctity of marriage" and their "personal beliefs" as a smokescren for their own conscious or subsconscious homophobia.
If me marrying my boyfriend cheapens your vows.then Im afraid youre the one with the problem becayse my vows have absolutely nothind to do with your vows.
This is about equality, there are certains laws and rights and privileges that only come with the fact of being married. Pensions passing over to your spouse when you die, tax allowances being claimed by your spouse etc etcthese things in various countries around the world are only available to married couples so it is a fallacy to say we should be happy with our civil unions or partnerships.
I am STUNNED, absolutely STUNNED and how crass, self involved and downright bigoted some people can be, and have been in this thread. We live in the year 2013 and people with these views should really stop and take a good hard look in the mirror at themselves to determine whether what they are believing is right for the progression of freedom, equality and just plain coexistence within the human reace. Its just plain intolerance and nothing more.
      Was MLK right or wrong?
Will we be looking back at this in 50 years time wondering the hell all the fuss was about? Probably not actually, because one of the fundamental causes of intolerance to gays and and homophobia itself is religion, and I dont see that going anytime soon.
Looking at discussions like this, and seeing the arguments AGAINST equality just make me lose complete faith in the human race. What a sad displayand a sad time we live in.
Oh and by the waymarriage predates religion, and the only institution that attributed cross-gender unions as being specific to marriage was religion. Relgiion DOES NOT OWN marriage. So drop the whole "sancity of marriage" crap and get an education on the subject at hand.
There are two classes of men. Intelligent without religion, and religious without intelligence.

I'm pretty sure that1c84 religion was used as an argument against mixed raced couples as well You can use religion as justification for pretty much anything! On the plus side, the enemy of religion is education and the Internet makes education easily accessible for all. The hard part is convincing people that learning about reality is a good thing.

Unfortunately for you, the majority isn't buying the imaginary notion of marriage ever changing (it won't). Aside from pockets in Europe and the declining west, the rest of the global trend is already moving towards correcting this regional and temporary movement.
China officially named real marriage the only standard and further pushed for no media displays of it. They are growing Christians by the rate of 10-20k per day and also a large rise in Islam there all but guarantees this trend will continue.
Russia and Eastern Europe are making even public displays illegal and turn a blind eye toward violence towards it. Not to mention, they are investing in finding a cure.
India and Indonesia have also self-corrected and only acknowledge real marriage. With their Muslim explosions this will continue.
The middle and east and Africa?lolenough said.
Europe? the bastion for tolerance however its short-lived. The Eu (and Canada) lack the birth rates to sustain their cultures. A society needs a birth rate of 2.1 to maintain. no society ever recovered once below 17and below 1.3its mathematically impossible. You know the average birth rates in the EU and Canada? 1.295 🙂 This means within 3 generations the Caucasians in those regions will be reduced by between 70 - 80%!! And replacing them?. Muslims from the Middle East. By the best projections, the majority of Europe will be Muslim before 2100 (and potentially Canada).
What is it to gain a marginal temporary and regional victory when you have already lost globally? You've lost on the topic and from a historical perspective; its only a question on when the advocates will wake up from their dreams to realize this reality. And FYI.. using a term like "marriage equality" is a stupid joke. You cannot have "equal marriages"..when you don't really even have a marriage. Heck, their relationships aren't even legitimate let alone equal. And if that part of the "educated" world was halfway as bright as you contend, they would have had more sensible fiscal and social cultures that could have sustained themselves. Truth of the matter is, the more enlightened are not deluding themselves and hopefully a cure will be found before the world takes a moreinteresting approach for a solution.

The word marriage has two definitions, one is "a combination or mixture of two or more elements", the second is "the union of man and woman". I don't see why it has to have anything to do with god (and let's face it, most g5b4et married for legal/financial reasons). I mean that seems to be the whole argument. But if you're gay and can't get married then that also means athiests and agnostics can't be married either right.since being united before god really doesn't mean anything to them. Even though so many play the part to put on that ring. But anyway, let them get married, who gives a beep Grow up people. Let them go to hell or whatever you believe. Live your own life and be nice.

ALL Sin, not just homosexuality, will result in a person's Spiritual Death. This World has been deceived by Satan and is therefore going to the Lake of Fire and Brimstone (even death and Hell will be consumed by the LOFAB). Eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die. If anyone in this world thinks they can "repent at the last minute" and gain Salvation that way, good luck. Homosexuality is all about pleasure and so-called Love. It is an insidious way for Sin to "get a look in". People who are deceived by Sin are not wise and therefore need to be helped by the people who do have a vision. In my church, we have a rather unique Vision of Salvation.
The only way the Bible describes Salvation is to "Repent and be Baptised and you will be filled with the Holy Ghost". Other Scriptures say that an accompanying Sign is called "Speaking in other Tongues". Once you have that experience, you have been obedient to the Lord and then you are made a Spiritual creature instead of an Earthly creature. That is the way to be a Christian in a nutshell. If anyone is interested google Revival Fellowship and find your nearest Assembly. We are just ordinary people chosen by the Lord to be His people. To be in the grip of Abomination is really bad but the Lord's people are here to "lend a hand". Enjoy.

Have you checked your domicile for Syrian "refugees" lately?
