Why didn't she reprise role of Helen Willis?

Not many people probably know this, but Kim Hamilton originated the role of Helen Willis. In fact, in their 2000first appearance on "All In The Family", all three Willises were played by different actors: Hamilton was Helen, Lynne Moody (best known for playing Clifton Davis' sister on "That's My Mama") was Jennie, and the late Charles Aidman was Tom. Does anyone know why the roles were recast when the Jeffersons were spun off into their own series?

i did remember hearing something about them going with roxie roker for the series because in her real life ,she was married to a white man (sy kravitz ,lenny's dad). i guess they felt she can add authenticity to the role of helen willis .

Hamilton was also married to a white man: Werner Klemperer (Col. Klink on "Hogan's Heroes"). I don't know if she was married to him at the time the show was on the air. Also noticed from the "All In the Family" episode: Tom was called Lester. Wonder why they changed his name.

Strangely enough, several times she made notable appearances (Gimme A Break, Guiding Light) and then she never seemed to follow through with a return appearance.
She may have been a bit of a scene stealer with her beauty and clear, dynamic voice.
