I love The Waltons, but what I love most about this show is LYNN HAMILTON and her beautiful portrayal in every episode as Verdie. She is remarkable and I have seen myself moved to tears in every episode she appears.
My favorite Waltons episode includes her, in The Illusion with Joan Pringle playing her daughter Esther. The speech she gives to her daughter, telling her to not give up, to carry on, and to make each generation better than the one before, is truly beautiful writing, but most importantly, beautifully portrayed by Ms. Hamilton.
I watch this episode every time I need a pick me up whenever I am feeling down and helpless.
She deserved an Emmy for this one episode alone!
Thank you Ms. Hamilton for your years of beautiful portrayals. We are all the better because of it.

Lynn is a most special actress and it's great to hear someone who views a particular episode to get some inspiration. I think her character should have played more of a major role after the 1977 season onward. Especially in 1980-81 when five major cast members had exited the show.
