Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Stephen Hawking

But - if science could advance to the point of removing his brain and transplanting it into a donor body or robot, I would like to see them do this for him. He deserves it. Too bad Avatar was just a movie. He needs an avatar.
I am not trying to be a troll or anything.

Perhaps, before he dies, science will come up with a way to transplant his brain into some kind of android body, giving him a kind of immortality, assuming that he might want that.
Your comment is not at all
      "silly," IMHO.

Assuming that he might want that is a good point.
I was born with a disability, spina bifida, and cant walk, never have. but if i was offered the chance for my brain to be implanted into an able bodied persons body or some kind of c3po metal robot i would decline the offer, it just wouldnt be me, a lot of who i am, my thoughts, views, beliefs, personality etc, basically who i am, comes from being born the way i was, Im not saying there arent times when i temporarily wish i wasnt born d1354isabled, there are, but its usually some event that sets that off and i get over it. But being born with spina bifida and sitting in a wheelchair makes me me.
And, you know, women use me as a chair a lot, i'd miss that 😄
I doubt that Hawking thinks much about having his huge brain transplanted into a more able body.

You make some very good points, but please remember that
          Prof. Hawking
          was born into a
          "normal"
body that suddenly got progressively worse, while you never experienced a
          "normal"
existence. And by that, I mean that
          Prof. Hawking
remembers what it was like to run, jump, play, make love and everything else that a human being can do, up until age 20 or so. By your own admission, you have never experienced those things.
So, having said all of that, it is my sincere belief that, given the opportunity,
          Prof. Hawking
would gladly make whatever adjustments were necessary, to again live as he remembers that he once lived.
