No one has anything positive to say?

I have to admit that I don't know a whole lot of what Prof. Hawking has accomplished, so let's look at this from another perspective.
How many inspirations have come out of the Star Trek genre? Cell phones are one, video conferencing for another, and for some, an inspiration to become involved in science and space.
It is clear that many of his theories have been applied to Star Trek stories. Although fictional and unproven, Prof. Hawking left his impression on one of the most intriguing genres to date. His accomplishment, in my opinion, may have been simply to inspire imagination as well as more research into his theories by more able-bodied and younger students. -

beep anyone who insults him
.
There is nothing lower than a person who badmouths someone with a disablilty. The guy is a bloody genius and a credit to quantum physics (or whatever- I'm too thick to have read any book of his but a History of Time) and a credit to the nation (and the world).
In my opinion those who badmouth him are secretly jealous that they have but two brain cells in their tiny heads- one to think of themselves and the other to feel envy toward those better than themselves.

It is true that he is not the most important thing that has every happened to Science. However, he may not be a big deal compared to other great scientists in the past, but he is one of the best scientists alive and you have to give him credit for that. He also has a way of explaining things to the world in a language that the world understands and is interested in.
I also admire him because he is able to do what he has done even though he is disabled. I mean, if I was disabled, I would think that I wouldn't be able to achieve anything great. The fact that he is even able to contribute to science is just incredible, no matter how small the contribution may be.
Gavroche is so gorgeous!!!

There is no doubt that Steven Hawking is a genius,(however limited the field may be)and it's hopeful that the day will come when his theories will give us an understanding of how we all got here and where we're going. But when it comes to being a "genius" or at the very least a visionary one need look no further than Jules Verne or Leonardo DeVinci. Just look at how thier thoughts and ideas are now common place today.

I am as well, and on the other hand I am not. The number of posts deleted by the administrator, especially on the thread asking if Hawking was Jewish, shows a prevalence of uncivilized discourse that is appalling. But the most disheartening thing one has to remember is that a lot of the people who sign onto IMDB are 14 year old boys who watch
The Simple Life
with the sound off. It has a large number of people who think
Fire in The Sky
is a documentary. Even with Waltons confession it was a hoax to camouflage a robbery.
It can be very discouraging. I know the feeling. I am a Biology professor and I still am besieged by individuals with no training is Scientific Method who claim they are smarter than Einstein, Stephen Jay Gould, Miller and Urey or even Dr. Sagan as they decry the Theory of Evolution and announce they posses the Truth of the Universe, that Intelligent Design, or whatever the lasted buzzword for Creationism is, is the only Truth of the Universe.
IMDB is populated with a lot of
intelligentsia
wannabes, but listen to their reasoning. Many of them still haven't graduated from High School and many of them are too busy trying to sound "cute" to reflect on what they are saying and, sad to say many of them never got past the "tease the cripple" stage of kindergarten.
I predict quite a few knee jerk gainsayers will prove me right.
Im open to the possibility its111c possible.
Is your mind open to the possibility its impossible?
