Found a completely racist article about the African-American man that recieved Jon Erik's heart. It left me fuming.
What do you all think?

How can we know it's racist if we don't know what it says? The Hexum family made it clear they didn't care who got his heart, as long as someone who needed it did.

I agree There was a lot of attention on the man, also because he ran an escort service among other things. The media were constantly pointing out the two extremes, gorgeous young white man go-getter, up and coming celebrity, and a middle aged black man with a shady lifestyle and career.

Saying what little you did and no more creates the impression that you are trying to make Hexum
appear
a racist-by-association.
So: Who made the bid deal about the recipient's race?
Hexum's family?
Hexum's friends?
The author of the article?
(Thanks for th2000e link, btw.)
I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved. -

The only article I found was one about how Jon Erik's heart is giving out on him and he has to have another transplant. He says he doesn't smoke, drink, or eat badly but the heart is still failing causing him kidney failure as well. I never realized that transplanted hearts didn't have a long life. The article stated that 18 years was remarkable and surprising it lasted that long.

My cousin is on his third heart now, one original and 2 transplants. And he is only in his early 40's. They really do not last that long. He also has to go on dialysis. And just got another kidney and is waiting to see if this one takes. This guy led a healthy life. Just a bad heart.
Sometimes the heart starts to reject a receiver. Heart and Kidney are two very vascular organs so after a while if one goes the other will too. I have a chronic illness but when I think of him I am thankful. He had to wait for a heart one Christmas. Laid out in the hospital with a artificial heart and the only help that is coming is coming from someone who dies. Tragic.
I do not care who gets a organ. The donor would not be allowed to specify who he wants. They only time I get upset is when person like Mickey Mantle who drank and smoke got various transplants. And he kept on drinking and smoking until he got another one.
