i don't think he died as a kid. i think he was a retard who got water logged, llived in the woods, his mom thought he died went crazy, but still feed him and stuff thinking she was having a flash back.(it sounds nuts i know, but you know every night at midnight they fill the sewers of new york with green sizzling toxic waste!). i don't think he died until part 4. what about you?

Jasons origins remain a mystery. Was it soemthing in the lake which made him what he is. Was there some creature or entity down in those murky waters. Was there something in his mother gene codes which was passed to him. Or was it jasons will which wouldnt let him die.
in jason x we at least find out soemthing about his powers. He can regenerate, has super strength, can move at incredible speeds, and can stalk and evade with the best of them. a jason vs wolverine movie might be interesting.
But back to your original question. when did he actually die. i would say the episode his mortal life ended and his immortal life began would be part 3, because up until that point he had not been mortally wounded. in part 2 we see jason run and he has even assembled a place to live. and if those teeny bopper kids hadnt violated his clearly identified sanctuary there may not have been any trouble.
The only reason jason left his sanctuary was to kill the survivor from part 1 who killed his mother and then he went right back to crystal lake. Somewhere in jasons psychology when the kids violated his sanctuary soemthing triggered inside of him. Probably reasoning that his first experience with people was when he was a kid and he got no help as he drowned, and then when his mother was killed by the survivor from part 1. His mind had one thought, "keep people out"
When he died and came back that one thoguht remained, all in crystal lake had to die."
Jason is a very interesting character and i look forward to the movies he will be in in the future. i want KAne hodder back and lets keep the movies going.

I really want to say that he died as a kid because he couldn't swim but his mother was there and saw it all so she obviously saved him right at the brink of final death.
After bringing him back, she filled his head with crap like "Those counselors are bad news because they weren't watching you and those kids are mean that's why they pushed you in the water(FVJ)" so begins Jason's killing spree.
But then again, wasn't he the one who went out there on his own and tried to learn how to swim originally when he was supposed to be in bed sleeping???
Twisted kid believed his mother rather than taking the blame himself because he was so screwed up and we all know that "Mother Knows Best".
This kid reminded me of that dang blasted bad a**ed bratty little girl in "The Bad Seed" for being so hardheaded.. SHEESH!!
So anyway, he had to have finally died for real when Tommy sliced his wig in half on Part #4/"The Final Chapter"(you know when he slid down the machete) - he was still alive so Tommy hacked him up even more which in essence had to have done it for real.
All else is graphics and the reviving from electrocutions and whathaveyou and all he remembered was his mother's love for saving him and "REVENGE - KILL KILL KILL" echoing in his head.
This has to be right because you see how twisted he becomes and turns his head to the side and hesitates when someone tries to fake him out (Part #2 - "Jason, Mommie has a reward for you" - "Jason, mother is talking to you" & Part #10 - "It's ok he only wanted his machete back") Yeah right - yet classics indeed.
Take no prisoners J YOU ROCK.

Ok here is my take on it..
I think Jason really died in part 3.And I'll explain why. I think Jason died in part 3 because his mask is the same as it was in part 3, as it is in freddy vs jasonas it's just weather'd a lotI also think that everything from part 4 to 9 and maybe Jason X..was just a dream. Since he was dead, none of the others could of happened. So that is my belief..Jason died in part 3rotted in the forrest for any number of years.and freddy woke him up..why else would his mask be the same as it was in part 3just way dirtier?

I think that Jason really died in his movie'Jason goes to hell'. Kinda weird sounding, but I really bought into the movie. A classical. Obviously, Jason wouln't kill his mother( Friday the thirteenth part 2 and Freddy vs Jason).I want to see how that enters into the whole thing.
Little 'did you know' stuff- Did you know that if you put back all the deleted scenes and cut scenes, Friday the thirteenth part 2, would be X rated. Kinda makes you wonder
I got the Friday the 13th- From Crystal lake to Manhattan series. It's totally great and you can see alot of how they did with the killings.

I definitely think he was killed at the end of Part IV by a young Tommy Jarvis. He was buried and placed in the cemetery.
We all know he was resurrected at the beginning of Part VI by an older but not so wiser Tommy Jarvis. Tommy also caused Jason to drown at the end of Part VI.
I believe Jason was either dead or in a semi-conscious state at the beginning of Part VII and Part VIII. I say a "semi-conscious state" because Jason has survived almost every form of human torture and punishment.
Surviving a couple of drownings, including the original drowning when he was a kid, is not too much of a stretch for him.
I definitely think he was killed in "Jason Goes To Hell" although he returned in "Jason X" and "Freddy vs. Jason".
All I know is that at some points throughout the series, Jason was definitely killed and definitely resurrected. He is Jason Voorhees, after all.
I hope that answers your question, OP. Thanks for the thread. It's always good to talk to a fellow "Friday The 13th" fan. Have a great day! 🙂
If it's useless information, chances are I already know it!

Well I guess we all should throw our opinions in. I honestly dont think Jason ever did die. If I recall correct in FVJ, freddy tells Jason, using his mom's voice, that he has been asleep. And he needed to wake up and teach the children on elm street a lesson. Whenever he goes down and out he only sleeps. And is woken up at a later date. kind of like someone you dont wanna date but keep them on the side just in case you ever need a reason to go out. Thats what the movies are doing to him. They will "kill" him off only to bring him back in another movie. So people.thanks to his ever growing fame..the movie will never let the hockey mask die.

The original mortal Jason is killed by young Tommy Jarvis in pt. 4.
In part 5, the guy with the hockey mask isn't even Jason, it's just some guy.
Then in pt. 6, Tommy inadvertently resurrects Jason and makes him immortal when Jason gets struck by lightning (like Frankenstein's monster). Pretty much from that point on, all bets are off. We're in immortal Jason world and anything goes.

The filmmakers had to create a real Jason for Part 2. There was no real Jason in the first movie. It was easy enough to posit that the kid escaped a watery grave and grew up wild in the woods. Of course, all he had for a costume then was a feed bag over his head with an eyehole. Not very frightening. Someone, God bless him or her, had a stroke of genius for the third movie. with the debut of the hockey mask. I think we can safely say Jason first died in the episode involving Corey Feldman.

2 theories. he didn't actually drown, got washed up lived in woods, died in part 4, the electricity bought him back as a tribute to Frankenstein & zombie films. during the whole of part 5 he's in a hole rotting, seems dead to me.
other theory is he did die, body never found, soon as Pamela died, her blood went into the water.. or something.. bought him back as unstoppable monster, part 4 he was killed, became a ghost haunted Tommy, people thought Tommy is insane, but it's Jason's ghost, probably possessed Roy too, (Jason didn't go to hell until Jason goes to hell so this must be true, Jason was just not inside his body at that point). then he returned to his body and unstoppable again.

I think Part 3 was his end. I think the others are the ones that exaggerated his abilities.
