Not really, the Carrie in the novel was discribed differently than the one portrayed by Sissy Spacek.
"They're coming to get you, Barbara!" and they did.

She's too cute. Isn't Carrie supposed to be at least slightly homely or plain-looking, which helped spur the persecution?
