To be fair, there are several movies on Hughes and many, many more on much more bigoted people.

Scorsese made a movie. Doesn't mean he felt the same way Hughes did. And whether you like it or not, the man was known all over the world. He made some of the best movies for his time, and was a pioneer in Aviation. M16d0ovies have been made about much worse people than this man.

Well, the making the best movies for his time part is debatable. The rest I agree with. As for the thread starter's complaint, who gives a crap? When Howard was a kid, blacks did what they do best - rioted - and afterwards he didn't want to be around them anymore. Don't blame him. When you get attacked for "walking while white" like that drunk tourist in Baltimore was, you'll understand. Until then, feel free to live in your multicultural, utopian fairyland.

I've never liked Scorcese. Black people do a lot of stuff at an excellent level, like creating the internet where some dumb racists can show how stupid they are. I think it's hilarious how racists play dumb to act like their oppression isn't why some people riot. But it's fine when white men riot to gain so-called freedom i.e, like from the British in the U.S., Ireland, etc.

I doubt Martin S16d0corsese shares Howard Hughes' prejudices. Just from the production of the documentary 'The Blues', about the history of that style of music. And from hearing him talk over the years I also doubt he is antisemitic. Actually, it seems to me that it would be difficult to be involved with film over a lifetime and maintain such prejudices. He's also a film scholar who has cited his favorite films often. I imagine it would be enlightening to peruse those.

I actually liked the aviator, as a film, but Hughes is pretty deplorable, what he did for aviation notwithstanding.
