He didnt hate people, he just didnt like large crowds. He suffered from anxiety from it. And before I said that the grugs for his injuries plus ocd, among other things pushed him over the edge. He was a genius though

katharine hepburn said that howard was almost deaf and that's why he hated company, specially crowds. he never learned lip reading and conversation was very difficult for him.
he lost almost his hearing as a young boy.
