The fact he's a lefty is one of the MANY reason why I like him.

He had a very good upbringing despite the split of his parents when he was young. His father provided the family with the good set of values that Hugh grew up with. He excelled in school in leadership roles, as such as being Captain of the Knox Grammar School. He also excelled in athletics, which likely developed his spirit of competition as well as as that of camaraderie and sportsmanship. He even participated in high school musicals. He did end with two college degrees - one in communications/journalism and another in drama from WAAPA. He was already around 26 when he got his fulltime professional job, the TV drama where he met his wife. It is true that Deb is a great influence on him, but it is also true that Hugh was already a well-educated and a well-raised person when they met.
Have you ever seen him at close range in person? I always smile when I re-hear this story about the stagedoor for The Boy from Oz. It seems that a female fan found herself right in front of Hugh. She was shaking so much ( from excitement) that she could not speak. Hugh noticed it and said " Why are you nervous? It's only me!"
Another story, this time my own personal experience. It was in Sydney at the stagedoor for the arena tour of The Boy from Oz. There were quite a number of us clustered around him. After I had my show souvenir programme signed, I asked him a question rather softly. He went to the other fans without getting a reply to my question - I had assumed he did not hear itBut a few minutes later, he actually came back to me and asked " Did you want to ask me something?". I was so surprised but recovered my poise and asked him about his plans for Broadway.
He is kind and gracious! He would be even if he were not a famous person!

I agree with baj-1 that Hugh was likable before meeting Deb, but I do agree with you that a large part of the reason he is who he is today because of his wife. I am currently working on a video about them, and Hugh has stated that many times. He himself has said he was shy and lacked confidence. He had a lot of fears and doubts. He has said that he has changed a lot after meeting her - that he has become confident and believed in himself. He has also said that she saved him. Likewise, he has said that his kids "helped him get over his own unhappy childhood." So while I agree that he was raised wonderfully by an amazing father, Hugh still suffered during his childhood. He likely suppressed his feelings when he was younger and when he was older realized he hadn't dealt with certain traumas and that they did in fact affect him. It is very difficult for a kid to deal with their mother leaving them and starting a new family on another continent, no matter how loved you feel. And his dad had to work all the time to provide for 5 kids. His brothers bullied him, and Hugh himself said he had some troubles in school (fights and such) until he got older. So I definitely agree with the points both of you have made.

At the CITS stagedoor where The River is playida0ng, Hugh was always consistently kind and graciousand funny, too. Amazing how he can keep being this nice before and after the show, day after day, in the rain or cold weather, if he is not so in real life.
He has also been incredibly dedicated to the Broadway Cares charity and once again was the top fundraiser for the 2014 fall drive (called the Gypsy competition and fundraising)! His contribution has so outpaced the other shows that his show was taken out of competition and was given a category of its own. And he has only been raising funds for three weeks compared to the full 6 weeks that the other shows have done. His commitment does not end with the announcement of the results for this year. Just like in 2011 for Back on Broadway, he is completing the entire 6 week fundraising on his own and will likely raise a total of at least a million dollars once again, as he has done with the last 3 Broadway shows he has been in.

I think it's because he just seems so approachable. He's talented, funny, articulate, intelligent, humble, down-to-earth etc. He just seems like a genuinely nice guy.

will i was a huge hugh jackman fan and even went and saw him in the boy from oz in melbourne i now follow chris pine. but i still love hugh who could not he is the real deal. and i love how he is with his fans and people in general he is not afraid to go into a audiance to engage with his fans. he knows how to be a great entertainer and showman which is what he is.
i do recall chris pine saying that he would like a career like hugh's where he can do thearter, big blockbuster movies, indie films, etc which if an actor has to look up to sameone then chris has certainly choosen the right person, even though they are different. chris is very shy and nervous kind of person and he does not do well with the paps but he is good with his fans and very kind like hugh
id love to see them both do a live action movie togeather. maybe play brothers or buddie cops or even enemys i would not know who i would place as the bad guy both can play bad guys very will
anyway i go for actors like hugh and chris becouse of who they are in real life which is good down to earth people who love what they do in life

Cause he seems like a good, down to earth, modest guy who loves his family. I've had a huge crush on him since I saw him in the first X-men and he'll always be my imaginary side piece lover.

                              1. The people he works with talk a LOT in interviews how great a guy he is.
                              2. He's hilarious in interviews, very down to earth (juggling, goofing off, being self depricating, etc).
                              3. He's very much a family man. He keeps his children out of the spotlight, switching off with his wife every few years between working on their careers and being a full time parent. And you can tell in interviews that he's still head over heels in love with his wife.
                              4. He's done a great job with Wolverine, and he takes great pride/responsibility in wanting to do the part right. It's not just another gig, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of something that means a LOT to a lot of people, and he knows that and wants to make do it right.
                              5. I'll just stop at five and mention the obvious: he's goodlooking and has a cool accent.

I agree with all of your reasons and thought I'd add a few more. I love how much Hugh loves exploring and learning about other cultures. He is an ambassador for Seoul, Korea and has a great relationship with India and Bollywood among other countries. He loves the Aboriginal people of Australia, is friends with several people who are Aborigine, and does a lot to help the Aboriginal people. He also has a son who is half black and a daughter who is half Mexican. There isn't a racist bone in his body. Also, Hugh and his wife do so much charity work and travel the world together helping out. He is very compassionate and has a huge, giving heart. He is very spiritual, which is something else I really admire about him. And last but not least, his spirit seems so child-like and youthful - so full of life and joy and inner peace and does not seem cynical or jaded at all. He holds onto the hope that people are inherently good and the world can be a better place.

I have posted this earlier on this thread
Have you ever seen him at close range in person? I always smile when I re-hear this story about the stagedoor for The Boy from Oz. I'd like to add another instance which shows his utter kindness
Also at the stagedoor of THE BOY FOM OZ, because of the huge throngs that appear when he arrives the rule was no photos were allowed ( only autographs and a quick hello) because it would take a very long time if everyone is accommodated and he needed to get into the theatre for the usual pre-show warmups. One fan told Hugh that she wished she could have one and that her Mom was all ready with a camera to shoot a photo. Hugh, quick thinking and trying not to give one fan a special favor told her : "Quick, give me something to signand ask your Mom to snap that photo of the two of us".
It is the little things that tell you the kind of human being that he is!

I don't care for autographs though. Admittedly, I'd rather have a picture.

You could be lucky and maybe get a selfie itself he oftentimes would take the camera itself for the pose.
Unfortunately, the chances are not that great the crowds are thick ( it was so much easier when he was doing The Boy from Oz - that was a yearlong run), even more so after the performance.
BUT as this is the time for the Broadway Charity ( Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids) fund drive ( of which Hugh Jackman is the most prolific contributor - I think he has already raised over $ 4 million from three shows) he will usually reserve the photo-taking moment as part of the options to raise money. The fund drive usually lasts till the first week of December, but as it was in the case of Back on Broadway, he extended it to its full six weeks ( because the show opened late in time for the start of the fund drive) way beyond the usual deadline. Unfortunately a photo option with him is very pricey ( several thousand dollars), as it might be for other options - I do not know what he might be selling this time - LOL! The t-shirt he wore underneath could bring in as much as $ 25,000 ( I think it was Judge Judy who snapped the prized item, complete with his DNA - LOL!)although to me the fun is watching the auction which he conducts himself. I think in one case, even Scarlett Johansson was bidding but she dropped after her initial bid ( I think she wanted to give the chance to the ordinary fan).
Maybe if someone could snap a photo of the two of you if you get a chance to meet him ( but that would be superfast, especially after the performance when it is near impossible to get to the top of the barricades)?

During the culminating event for Broadway Cares/EFA on December 9, Hugh et al presented the awards for the top fundraiser shows.
But the award winners were more keen to get close to Hugh than be joyful about their awardsmany of them stealing hugs or asking for group photos

The most amusing one was when one winner ( from Kinky Boots) went down on her knees and hugged Hugh's leg for a few moments

This video clip happened after she let go of Hugh's leg ( she's the lady with the violin). The audience found the whole thing hilariousand while Hugh seemed a bit embarrassed at the love-in by the award winners, he took it all in stride

The Broadway community is very fond of Hugh

, the link with the leg hugging is not working for me.
But OMG the other links you posted, soooooo adorable!
