Natalie / Juno was kick-ass in
The Descent
(literally!) After reading the script for the sequel it looks as though they're bringing both Sarah and Juno back, which is fantastic news if it ends up happening. The only way i feel a sequel could work is to have both Shauna Macdonald and Natalie Jackson Mendoza return.

Sorry, but how does wanting the 2 main characters from the first movie back for the sequel mean we don't "appreciate the greatness of the first film enough"? I loved
The Descent
, especially the ending, it's one of my favourite movies of all time. I would just love to see a bit more charatcer/relationship development between Sarah and Juno. Although, i completely understand how people hate the idea of a sequel and the idea of bring them back. Seeing as though the script/analysis is just a draft, it's likly that they will both be written out anyway.

because the very point of the several scenes from the first movie would be rendered pointless, for starters? It was obviously never intended to have a sequel with the same characters. By the end of the first movie, it's obvious their story is done. there just isn't room to pick up at the end of it. the fact that it's somewhat open-ended doesn't mean a sequel is appropriate.
It would be an awful move on the studio's part. -

I do agree with you on some of the points you made. Although, due to the fact that much of
The Descent
was based around the characters' relationships, i don't feel a sequel with an entirely new cast is the right way to go. The six actresses made the film what it is IMO, and I still think there is enough room to progress their relationship further, (Sarah & Juno).

welllll, I think the three main actress made the movie (Sarah, Juno + Beth) while the rest didn't get much development at all.
I think the only very appropriate way to examine their relationship more would be some sort of prequel short. I don't think a full sequel movie is quite what it needs. Obviously I loved how much more their parts added, I think the whole horror + drama thing is very unique and it worked so well - far better than any other attempts I've seen.
But I guess we all come to our own conclusions with this. I would have just liked a new situation. To examine other people who "descend" into insanity in similar situations. The sequel might end up one of those sequels that only feature them in the beginning I think it would be fine if they had parts in it, but a whole movie with them as the main cast? that just doesn't appeal to me after the first.
