I love KOQs, and yes it is the only thing I find him funny in.
He had a great cast around him and good writers.

Loved him in KOQ but have grown to despise him as a movie actor. In fact, he should just quit because it's getting painful.

The King of Queens is his best work. I like his movies as well. I think the best one might be I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. He works well with Adam Sandler, not so much in Grown Ups though. His movies aren't as good as KOQ. He probably wouldn't fit in an R-rated movie because he doesn't have a dirty style of comedy. He's one of those guys that can be funny w/out being crude and vulgur. That's why he does the movies he does.

I pretty much agree, The King of Queens is his best work overall. He was funniest in that show.

The writers and co-actors were perfect on KoQ. The show got better and better with each season..
Since he got hooked up with "I am really funny - but you're not" Sandler he went down with his career as much as Sandler did. But actually Sandler was never funny though!

I agree that he is better in "King of Queens" than in films.
In films he often tries to much to be funny without actually managing to be funny.
On the show however he seems relaxed and natural and genuinely funny. I think it works because Doug was more or less a persona of Kevin himself, kind of like Ray Barone is a screen persona of Ray Romano.
Both more or less played themselves with slightly exaggerated features for the show of course.
But Doug's likeable character is what made the show work.
He should come back to TV and sitcoms where his humour works best and where his talent shines.

Very true. He was really funny in KOQ and many times they made me lol but unfortunately his movies are really boring and not even close to being funny.

I think it is more the material he is given to work with than anything else. He himself is funny, and I think that shines through even when he is working with a weak script. But even with a weak script there is only so much he can do.
But the good news is he may be returning to TV soon. He recently signed a deal to work on a new sitcom. Personally I can't wait because I have missed seeing him on TV.

I completely agree KOQ is one of my favorite shows and Kevin James as Doug is absolutely hysterical. But his stand up and his movies fall so flat. I don't get it. Seriously he should play every character as Doug.

KOQ was well written. His movies suck. His stand-up comedy sucks so much, it's hard to believe it's the same person on the stage.

I agree. I quite like KoQ (the earlier seasons, not so much the last one or two), but I haven't been impressed with his movies at all.

I agree with most here. His movies are awful and very UNfunny. Not one laugh, and I'm the kind of person who is easy to make laugh. I loved King of Queens though.

Definitely agree with you on that. 'King of Queens' is one of my favorite sitcoms of all time, but yet Kevin James' movies don't nearly seem to get the same amount of laughter out of me that his show did, though I did think 'Here Comes the Boom' was the funniest movie he's done so far. I don't why that is, but my roommate, who's also a big KOQ fan, feels the same too. It could be that he just needs to pick better roles, maybe?

Have to agree - he is one of my favourite comedy performers5b4 in KOQ but the films just do not do it for me at all. It does not help that he appears with the waste of space that is Adam Sandler - one of the most unfunny guys ever.

I loved him as doug in the king of queens. Its partly because hes in terrible movies.
I remember the grown ups movie he was in, everyone in that movie was cringe worthy. He needs to stay away from Adam Sandler, that guys movies are complete trash these days.

I think what made him work on KOQ was having Leah Remini to play off of his character, also Jerry Stiller.

You're right Runnonn, it was his costars who propped him up.
His stand up is not funny, and the movies are awful.

It's because he always plays dorky nice guys in movies. He is only good when he plays a selfish jerk like Doug.
