    David Jason is awesome.
Thatw was good but boring even in Frost which is generally darker then Morse (the most boring show on earth) he manages to inject some of hiss own humour.
so Noodlemonster with all due respect.
    beep You.

Why oh why oh why can't fans take constructive critiscism about their favourite stars????
I am so tired of hearing fans going on about how much they love EVERYTHING their star does.
        It's so bloody sycophantic.
I am a fan of Nicolas Cage, I admire the man and his work so much but there is some of his work/movies which I think are terrible!!!!
I don't get on my high horse if someone critiscises Nic's work and I think our favourite stars would prefer us to be honest about their work and not a bunch of a*$£ lickers!

Oh I definitely agree with you Cageybaby. It's true, just because you're a fan of a certain actor or actress, doesn't mean you have to like every single thing they do!
Anyway, I was going to say, although David Jason's characters in 'Only fools and horses' and 'The darling buds of may' have some similarities, I still forget that som5b4etimes when I am watching him. I think also, that i prefer his comedy roles to the more serious ones.

I think the following just about sums up noodlemonster and his cronies.
"Those that can, do. Those that can't? They spend their time talking crap about something they don't have the talent to achieve".
His success and numerous awards from his peers and public alike speak for themselves. You say that his characters are all similar. How is Del Boy anything like Frost? How is Frost anything like Pop Larkin?? Try reading the books on which the two latter characters are based to see how brilliantly David Jason has brought them to life. Still, I suppose it's easier to post uniformed cynical soundbites than to actually put some thought into your viewpoint. No actor or actress has ever had total success in everything they have done. Not one. David Jason is no different but that doesn't mean he's hugely over-rated. He at least learnt his craft in the theatre and succeeded because he has talent - and not because he has a large pair of plastic breasts with little talent or brains behind them.
I suggest you stick to reading your copies of Jade goody's or Jordan's account of their talentless little lives. Sounds more like your cup of tea.

I think everyone as their own opinions about David Jason and if we all agreed, then it would be a boring world!
I find Only Fools and Horses, without a doubt, THE best comedy there is (though UK Gold and its endless repeats of the show, like other comedies, makes it stale - God I know every word of every episode now).
Jason is a talented, wonderful actor with brilliant comic timing (which is what you need - like Ronnie Barker). However, he hasnt been successful in most programmes but that doesnt take away is genius. In A Bit Of A Do, he seemda0ed lost and every episode seemed the same.
But his greatest work is Open All Hours, which started it all off for him really. Even in Porridge (again working with Ronnie), he played an older character but was wonderful to watch.
I own all the Touch of Frost DVD's but I don't compare him to his other characters (like Del Boy). I just watch the drama and excitement of it all. Like I say, it's the average actors that get more acclaim these days. I don't read books on Jordan or Jade Goody (what have they EVER done)? But I will read autobiographies on people who have actually worked all their life and left a mark on the Nation.

I would point out that you shouldn't observe David Jason isn't a great actor, and then use as an example the poor plotting of the Frost TV series. The script is not the actor's fault! Have issues with them both, sepereately, if you want, but you can't blame one for the other (unless they're writing and starring, usually a bad idea, Mr Allen)
