If it does exist, and if Jones has any percentage of ownership of it, hed be smart to get it remastered and marketed for DVD. In today's world, any shock value would be nil and it would rejuvenate any 53-year-old, mid-level actors career. Times have changed! After all, were living in an age when a senator can be caught trying to score gay sex from an undercover cop in a public restroom, only to turn around and thumbnose a whole country and insist hes staying at his job till his term is up.

Good for you, Johnny. That's the important thing to know that Sam is the nicest guy ever and about your good fortune to work with him.
Nothing else should really matter as long as Sam is nice and his fans know this and stand beside him regardless of what anybody has to say. -

I am pretty sure the porno movie rumor is bogus. There have been several stars much bigger than Sam Jones who have had porno films in their background and they couldn't supress them I seriously doubt he could have. And for him to have made one it would be no older than 1972 and that's not that long ago for a film to be "lost", plenty of people would have seen it and remembered it.
I do remember the story and Sam completely denied that he ever made such a film. I wonder if people had confused his Playgirl lot with a possible stint in porn.
And if he had made such a film that wouldn't mean he was gay. Rumor has it a lot of men who make those movies are straight and make those films because it's easy big money. -

For one thing he isn't gay. If he would be gay he would've slept with Freddie Mercury who was seriously in love with him until some of Jones' friends told him he's not gay.

No, no. Well, Freddie had sex with 90% of the famous gay men in the '70s and '80s. I don't think Jones would've been an exception. BUT that's not what I wrote. It could be if he's gay and not interested in him. But it was precisely that Freddie tried to get to him while scoring Flash Gordon2000, and some of his friends told him, he's "not like that".

Doubt it the majority of gay porn actors are straight both women and men. It's just one of those things that is hard to see past. Hell I couldn't do it lol but there are plenty who have no problem doing it. I just don't think I could let someone violate my rear even if there were large sums of money involved.

I was an acquaintance of Sams several years ago before I left L.A. and whatever his past is it is now irrelevant as he is a new creation in Christ Jesus - Ive been to his house many times for actors Bible study and he is quite a powerful prayer warrior and has prayed for me more than once - Ive met his beautiful wife and hope he is still together with her these many years later and I hope as well that he is still with the Lord and pressing on into the Truth to help others as he has certainly done in my case remember Sam (if you see this - Im one of Richards former friends) the time is short to bless so many more with your great Spiritual and acting gifts and talents - God bless my brother Sam who has blessed me more than he even knows - Sam I do hope you read this and hope you know that any of these kind of attacks of your present life of what you may have been in your past (which I doubt) is only tantamount and confirmation of your coming to the person who is the Truth - stay strong Sam, and continue on and finish the race God has set before you, and dont let any of these crap rumors, true or untrue, slow you down - chpn1354lzt at yahoo

Ok, this is bound to hack a lot of people off, but I just realized something, or maybe I should say the fact came out and smacked me in the face.
I came to this forum to look up on the actor, Sam J. Jones, having seen his 1980 portrayal of Flash Gordon on cable at 4:00am a few early-morning flu-battles ago.
I clicked on this particular thread because, somehow, it just seemed to be an interesting topic.
Ok, the fact that I thought Sam was rather hot in Flash may have influenced it.
But, my point - I read through a string of posts that all seemed very mature, and intelligent. Surprising for the subject (the "did he" of a B-level actor making a gay porno 30+ years ago).
Then up pops the post from chpnlzt (sorry if I misspelled that).
Now, chpnzlt, I'm sorry if you take this personally - but your post reads more like the dialogue of a campy sci-fi or fantasy film than the worst lines in Flash Gordon.16d0

Is it a requirement of the Christian religion to talk like a guy trying too hard to get "into character" whilst playing Dungeons and Dragons ? I ask because I see this a lot on IMDb and anywhere else where the uber-Christlike tend to congregate on line

A lot of that 1210 talk sounds just a wee bit creepy. And it really makes the whole concept of God, religion, and Christianity look like something that belongs in the Iron Age. -

I can't believe this thread has been going on so long and no one has provided the explanation. In 1980 Sam J. Jones starred as Flash Gordon. Naturally he picked up some fans for his physique, particularly among gay men. Ergo somebody, perhaps mistakenly or just in fun, started the "porn flick" rumor. The reason they probably just made a mistake is that in 1974 an X-rated spoof (also released to drive-ins in an R-rated edit) called "Flesh Gordon" was released. It also starred a handsome, frequently shirtless blond actor, who looked not unlike Sam J. Jones. Somehow the two films became confused in people's minds and resulted in rumors of an imaginary Sam J. Jones gay porn film.
Let's face it, if there was a real one, it would have surfaced by now, given the ubiquity of dvd, youtube, internet, et al. By the way, I have seen the alleged Joe Dallesandro loop andwell, let's just say THAT rumor is a lot more credible. -
