I found candamc's persisting pseudo-interest in Toby Jones' height amusing. Why does it matter how tall he is? You'll be surprised how people can make big judgements on insignificant things such as height, skin colour, gender etc.
If impersonating a Police Officer is an offence, shouldn't actors be imprisoned? -

Agreed. Why would anyone make a big deal about someone asking how tall an actor is? Granted, that information IS in their IMDb mini biography but still. I swear, some people (like cosmogirly) enjoy making mountains out of mole hills for no apparent reason other than just to rile people up. I can't stand people who so easily take offense to anything and everything and complain about it. Yes, the only reason people are curious is so they can gloat.
By the way, that last sentence was thickly coated with sarcasm. I feel the need to always explain myself thoroughly on these boards
Isn't curiosity what brings people to sites like this in the first place? -

"Are these boards not for asking questions? Why does someone always get offended? We want to know things? JUST BECAUSE.
(How old is someone? Are they gay/straight? Are they married? Where were they born? What is their ethnicity? How tall are they?)
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT?"
I'm sorry, but when does gay/straight EVER come into an ACTING job? Or married? Oh no, Brad Pitt is married now, that means he is a horrible actor. OH NO, BRAD PITT IS MARRIED AND HE IS HOMOSEXUAL THIS MAKES HE ABSOLUTELY AWFUL TO PLAY THE NEXT SINGLE HETEROSEXUAL GUY!
Ok curiousity is one thing but when it comes to acti5b4ng, sexuality doesnt matter you numbnut. -

ALL RIGHT ALREADY!!!!!
I'm short (4'10") and I'm curious when I see other short people (or extremely tall people) just how tall they are. I'm not judging them. I'm not stereotyping them. I just want to know how tall they are.
Does your height say anything about your character, intelligence, talents, etc.? Of course not.
It just says how long your leg bones are.

Thank you, MdP2. Reading this thread has reinforced my opinion that there are far too many people of sub-standard intelligence posting here. It's a perfectly reasonable question, and I would like to know myself. The 5'5" listed by IMDb may be inaccurate with a bow to the faithful, IMDb does make mistakes sometimes. I personally doubt that Toby Jones is 5'5" more likely 5'2" or 5'3". That's not to say that it's important, it simply is what it is. There are three I can think of that you didn't mention: Alan Ladd (5'4"), Mickey Rooney (5'3") and Dick Cavett (5'3"). Does the fact that they're short detract in any way from their extraordinary talent? I think not, and you apparently agree.
As a matter of (historical) fact, the average height of a British soldier in World War I was 5'4". That's an AVERAGE. I wonder if Queen Elizabeth I had a court jester who was a dwarf; there have been several in royal history, and the jester was usually highly intelligent and often a close advisor to the king or queen. Perhaps the character Toby played against Helen Mirren was, indeed, called "midget" by the Queen, who was herself small and would have enjoyed having a courtier smaller than she was.

The first thing I wanted to know about this guy was how tall he was, in the same way you might want to know how much Sidney Greenstreet weighed, or the details of any other obvious, notable characteristic.
I agree that 5' 5" sounds a bit generous. -

it's curious because I just looked up to see if he was one of the actors playing a dwarf (little person) in Snow White and the Huntsman-because I was sure it was he, Toby Jones, the same actor who played Dr. Jenkins in Wayward Pines-and he was-very talented and in fact, even he has remarked about his height.

toby may have slight achondroplasia: an observation not solely based on his height (yes, he's below average) but it's his facial features. for instance, those with achondroplasia often have a larger sized forehead.

Well, according to his Biography page, right here on IMDB, he's 5' 5" (1,65 m). The same height has been mentioned in articles/interviews as being the same height as one os his (real life) characters - Arthur Lowe, so it's probably correct.
