Toby was a much better Capote than Hoffman, even though I admire PSH unreservedly. I think Toby will be a better Hitchcock than Anthony Hopkins. Hopkins has been brilliant in many movies, but not always. I didn't think he was the best Hannibal Lecter; for me, Brian Cox outclased him by quite a long way. I think Toby Jones will do the same. He has a subtlety that Hopkins seems to have lost somewhere along the way.

Toby Jones is a great actor and his Capote was so spot-on, I couldn't even keep watching PSH's version after getting used to Toby's adaptation even though I do think PSH is a great actor too. Brian Cox is an amazing and much underrated performer and I too think he was a far superior Hannibal Lecter than the other bloke. Don't forget Toby was also in 2012's miniseries Titanic, and of course, Cameron'd film came out slightly earlier in 1997.

Oh my God, you guys are so wro2000ng. Toby did nothing with Capote compared to PSH. PSH completely internalized Capote. He inhabited bis spirit. Jones was almost a caricature of Capote in comparison. And, I think the film "Capote" was simply better. The weight and enormity of the crime and the despondency of everyone it touched just permeated the entire film, and it worked. But it was Hoffman's sheer brilliance that led the greatness of the film.

Toby was hilarious as Capote. I had read In Cold Blood but had never stopped to consider what his appearance in Kansas in the early 60s must have like for the locals. Toby brought it all home. I was hoping his Hitchcock would be as funny but they had him play it darker like Hoffman's Capote.

He WAS Capote to me, way more than PSH (though I did like him in the movie). I LOVED his portrayal of Hitchcock. So dark, so disturbing creepy and twisted. Don't know how Anthony Hopkins will be, but I wouldn't be surprised if Jones upstaged him too.
He is such an amazing and underrated actor. -

It really is a shame both of these films came out so close to their counterparts. I think all four were interesting and just good films for different reasons. They took completely different approaches to the same subject matter and Toby was wonderful in both roles. PSH went a little overboard but he was clearly lost in the role and it was a wonderful performance. Hopkins wasok. There's always too much Hopkins in his roles and the makeup was not as good as it could have been. They all should be seen by film fans.
Edit: I have to admit though, I liked the supporting cast for Infamous a bit more than the cast in Capote. Especially Daniel Craig. I've never been a fan of Clifton Collins and much preferred Craig in the role. And Sandra Bullock brought so much life to Harper LeeI thought Keener was a little flat. -

You are INSANE. If you think that Toby Jones put PSH'S Capote "to shame", then you don't a damn thing about acting. PSH was 100 times more riveting. There is NO COMPARISON between their performances. PSH was far superior.no contest.
