the point to the movie was all of the cast were lonely and the loneliness was portrayed through several aspects of an array of people. sure, it was a little detailed, but it's still a common thing in society and it definitely fit with the idea of the movie.

No kidding. I watched Garden State and was like "cool", then I popped in "Code 46&quo2000t; right after Garden State and was 10X more impressed with Code 46. Probably within the first five minutes of the film. So maybe even indie-film fans need to expand their horizons a bit.

Join the real world. Everybody I knew(or just about everybody) had either lost their virginity before or in high school or within 4 years after. The myth of abstinence is a far-right kook lie that is perpetrated by individuals who just want to control others' private sexual lives and fetishes.
That's good news, as I'm a 22 year old virgin guy who graduated about 3 1/2 years ago, that means I should be finally having sex within the next few months.

that's so strange. i know many virgins (myself included) who choose to be so as a moral decision to wait until marraige.

Sucks to be you. Me I had an absolute blast having sex and I didnt make anyone pregnant and I didnt get any std:s and no one got hurt. And not having sex has nothing to do with morals. It's like saying that I dont intend to go to the bathroom because of a moral decision.
I agree with davidlundquist, although I did know a guy who decided to wait until marriage to go to the bathroom. He'll be missed. It's a sad thing too since, as everyone knows, toilet marriage is finally legal.
But seriously, I don't understand people who purposely decide to stay virgins. I guess I'm just bitter but I kind of hate them, especially beautiful girls. They probably have tons of guys who want to get in there but decide to keep the door closed while a shy guy like me (I have Social Anxiety Disorder, otherwise known as Social Phobia, thus the virginess) would kill to have a just 1 girl, even half a girl, say one who had no arms or legs but still had a nice face and a good personality, trying to get where no woman has gone before.

Wow, they were so not skanks. They were teenage virgins that were curious and scared about their developing sexuality. And they relied on each other and making the experience clinical to make themselves feel safe. And it was weirdly beautiful
Exactly. They are just teenage girls curious about sex. It's so sexist that boys are allowed to be frisky but girls who are, are called whores or skanks. I think it's because men are afraid of female sexuality. They want to have sex but at the same time they want every woman to be a virgin. Talk about skanky.
Not all men are afraid of female sexuality. I wish women would be more open with their sexuality actually and be just like men are. I feel this way as a strong feminist and of course because of what I have already said
I loved this movie and this scene was good. God damn, Peter was lucky -

Both men and women are extremely narrow minded when it comes to women being in anyway forward in terms of sex. If a women initiates anything on screen she is a slut. No matter what the age.
In this film as other posters have commented, they are just finding their feet sexually, and are trying to come to terms with there own insecurities about there bodies, and there fear of being rejected and not being good at sex, or oral sex to be more specific.
This is highlighted when you see there reaction to both of them being "the same" when they ask the him how it was.
But aside from that, seen as the topic does seem to of wandered, I am curious as to why when a women is strong and shows she is comfortable with her own sexuality, that this is frowned upon by both sexes.
I have friends who are female (honest I do) and when watching ( I know, Its terrible) reality shows such as x factor and what not, or performances by women on stage, you hear them branding around the word slut and what not all the time.
People say they want to see women be strong and sexy and what not. But when a women shows this part of her personality, she is voted off said show in a heartbeat, because she is masculine or a slut, or what have you.
I realise a reality TV show might be a bad example at what I'm getting at, but its hard for me to explain. I'd also like to point out that I am subjected to such show's because I love my girlfriend, not because I like those shows.
I Sympathise with Lars Von Trier.
