Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Miranda July

I kind of have a sixth sense about these things and I think she seems like one. Her character in "Are You Anyone's Favorite Person" was written by her to be gay.

The record shows that for the most part she is not into same-sex relationships.
The record also showsthat she isn't entirely opposed to same-sex relationships.
      According to Wikiped, which
      I trust implicitly
, Johanna Fateman, of Le Tigre, has referred to July as being her "best friend from high school." Make of that what you will.
      The
      infallible
Wikiped also states definitively that "July dated Radio Sloan, from The Need (who was a friend of Johanna Fateman, as well as the Canadian transgendery-ish Peaches) when she first moved to Portland. She went on to date Beat Happening frontman / K Records founder Calvin Johnson."
And: "July is married to the artist and film director Mike Mills."
Mills is known as the director of 'Thumbsucker', and he just made an autobiographical film about his elderly father coming out to him as gay.
Mindless gossip session: over and out.
