Jim Kelly Vs. Chuck Norris

In the immortal words of the inscrutable Hong Kong Phooey "Could Be" as I sort of recall in an interview with Jim Kelly back in the 70's stating that he could beat Ali,George Foreman and Joe Frazier, but that he'd require a 30 minute rest period after each fight I would love to see Quentin Tarantino use Jim Kelly in one of his future films in a good role that would bring Kelly5b4 back in a big way-which could very well happen as I know QT knows who he is-he mentions him once in a description of black action stars of the 70's-And of all of them Jim Kelly was by far the coolest! I once saw him in Miami at a Karate demonstration he gave and he was tough on his opponents kicking them all in the groin and every other place he felt like In his lecture he seemed like a nice guy but egotistical as well but had the skill to be that way But now as far as this Kelly vs Norris all I can say is Kelly moves a lot more gracefully (at least back in the 70's) But if all else fails he could choke that Chuck with Norris'own body hair But do not touch one hair on David Carradine as he is one of my very favorite actors in the history of cinema and is in his seventies now and is as complete & total scally-wag as he ever was But if he were still alive Bruce Lee could kill'em all except Quentin who could easily talk his way out of Lee's wrath

I love Jim Kelly he is a great action hero .. but in reality unlike so many of these "experts" of today Chuck actually fought in many tournaments and was the middle weight champ. Chuck was an accomplished champion so I would have to take Chuck over Jim but who wants to see to guys they like fight ? Not me .
My favorite Chuck quote went something like this . Gives you the reality of what the guys fighting in MMA have been complaining about when the UFC owners are making huge money and the fighters earn peanut Chuck "I won the middle weight championship and almost won enough money to cover the medical bill to get my broken jaw fixed " -

Jim should totally play the sensei granddad of the vengeance seeking girl in Kill Bill 3, if the plot is in fact going to be the girl from part 1 looking for vengeance from Uma Thurman.
On the run from Johnny LawAin't no trip to Cleveland. -

Anyone that knows anything about Karate in the 60's,70's,80's knows that Jim Kelly was a star when it came to Non Contact Karate, but when Full Contact Karate became popular in the states, he was considerd average at best.
Though I find his movies more entertaining then Chuck Norris, and would like to see that Afro make a comeback. -

Jim had one somewhat major title and some miner ones .. Chuck had many major titles from the mid 60's through the mid 70's .. either way I love both these guys . I saw Jim this Easter (2010) weekend at a comic book convention in San Francisco's Mosconi Center and he looks fit and could easily play a great roll in a movie. I hope someone brings him in on a well funded film . He deserves it for playing a great roll in one of the greatest martial arts movies of all time !!! He also delivered one of the greatest lines of all times and I don't have to repeat it because all you cats know what it is !!

Saw Jim Kelly at a recent appearance as well, someone asked if he and Chuck Norris had ever fought. Kelly stated "Chuck Norris is a champion", though he and Chuck had never fought as Chuck retired from competitive fighting right before Kelly himself entered Black Belt competition. I would pay good money to see these two in a film together!
I agree, the man is in great shape, evidenced by the fact that his speaker room appearance came at the end of the day, while many other guests were obviously fatigued from a long day of meeting fans and signing autographs, Kelly remained energetic and sharp. -

Yeah, a champion at playing games of tag. They didnt make contact in those days moron! Not until 1974, by then Norris was retired. Anyone would kick his ass that was used to really getting hit. Jim2000 Kelly was and is in the same category.
