Not only was he going to be a great President, he was going to secretly reinvestigate his brother's death. That's why he was murdered. LBJ, the CIA and the FBI (and their friends in the Mafia) did not want the case re-opened. Sirhan, by the way, was Mob-connected. Read the book The Kennedys: Dynasty and Disaster by Jackie's first cousin John Davis for that info.
Also: I do not believe that RFK was having an affair with Mary Jo Kopechne, the secretary who drowned in Ted's Oldsmobile in 1969. These are just lies to blacken his memory. Since there is no libel against the dead, Ethel Kennedy cannot sue. She has maintained her dignity all these forty years and has never remarried. He was the only man she was ever intimate with (what a solid Catholic) and she has cherished his legacy like no other. How I admire her. She certainly never has had the power and freedom of her late sister-in-law the worshipped Jacqueline, but then again, she never wanted such trappings.
Right now, I am going to read the new Vanity Fair. RFK is on the front to commemorate the fortieth anniversary of his death. Too bad they didn't do the same thing for Martin Luther King, Jr. I can't wait to devour it.

How do you know he would've made a good president? do you have esp or something.
Ted was the one that was having an affair with Mary Jo and not Bobby because Bobby's only true affair happened back in 1962.
And since you mention Ethel and since you say you admire her:
Then you SHOULD know that Ethel started dating as early as 1970 and she almost married Andy Williams, but I'm sure the Kennedy family prohibited it and told Andy to take a hike.
Just like they tried to stop Jackie from marrying Aristotle Onassis, but that didn't work, because Jackie didn't want to continue to play the role of the devoted Kennedy widow, especially knowing all of JFK's infidelities.
Got to admire Jackie for at least living her life the way she wanted afterwards.
She wasn't going to continue be a Kennedy pawn in regards to her life, unlike ethel.
And by the way, solid Catholics would never be in favor of abortion or vote for pro-abortion candidates, but yet Ethel and the rest of the Kennedys always do that.
The Church's teachings are very clear on that, so they are not as solid as some think or as you say.
Plus, having a truck load of kids doesn't necessarily make you a solid Catholic or saint either.
However, I do agree there was a conspiracy in both Bobby and JFK's death.

RFK certainly would have been a better President than any of the others we've had to put up with since. Including Clinton, who turned the economy around, the only one to do so since 1963.
In the book RFK by C. David Heymann, the author charges that Mary Jo Kopechne and Bobby were involved in the year before he was murdered in 1968. Then, in 1969, she became involved with Teddy, but didn't live to tell about it. There is a very cozy picture of Mary Jo looking adoringly at Bobby and vice versa in many of the Kennedy books, including this one. The Kennedys shared a lot of their women, allegedly even Monroe, whom I also don't believe had an affair with Bobby.
Ethel dated Andy Williams, she did not SLEEP with him. And she has certainly been a better practicing Catholic than dearly departed Jackie.
