Actually, It is NOT a myth. Living in Korea, married to a Korean woman, with a Korean daughter in college I have seen and heard all about this. Smoking is not considered taboo, however, smoking in the presence of elders is. This same rule applies to young men but is more closely followed by women. The reason I was given when I asked my step-daughter why she cares what others think was "it is not worth the hassle".
Other things that are considered to be on the seedier side of life such as drinking and tattoos are also hidden from elders. I have noticed that young men when drinking are more conscious of the social stigmas placed on them, and more closely adhere to them, than women are.
Just my observations over the last 9 years though. -

Just like i said on Emille De'Ravin's I.M.D.B site about criticizing ppl for smoking - who cares? the good half or so of the world smoke! get over it, its not socially unacceptbale to smoke, my god look around the world there are ppl doing alot worse things than smoking. Do you really think it's worth starting a discussion board on if a star smokes? Think of something original!

Sounds like schizo guy is a smoker. There are two things to talk about on boards like this - the actor's professional work and inane bits of trivia regarding the actor. Nothing original will ever be written here.
I just watched Mr. Iron Palm and she sure smokes like a pro in that movie. But it was also totally in character, so it looks like she has at least smoked a few cigarettes in her life. -

Definatly has that smokers look to her imo. I was checking out some pics of her on wireimage.com earlier today and couldnt help but notice how old she looked. She just packs on the make-up to hide her true age.

I've seen a fair amount of asian women (mostly japanese, korean and chinese, not so much indian) smoking on my campuswe've got a large population from asia and the middle east. However, I hardly ever see mexican women smokingI've always wondered about that. I'm also a bus rider so I see a lot of mexican women.

Why is it that every actor's imdb board has at least one thread about whether they smoke or not?
Who the f($& cares? if she's a good actress she's a good actress, if she isn't she isn't, does it matter whether she smokes? Will you like her less/more?
Why don't you ask if she plucks her eyebrows?
