A few times in the last 6 months (maybe 3 or 4 times), I've binged on takeout, eating a ton of food in one sitting. I've usually done this on days where I was feeling really blue and depressed.
I also did this a lot my last year of college, if I would miss dining hall hours or not have dinner plans with a friend I'd have a large pizza delivered, and almost always eat all of it in one sitting. Depression wasn't the reason I did this, though, at least not all the time. I actually did this to the point that I can't eat pizza regularly anymore because I'm tired of it.
Today I was feeling like sh!t for reasons I won't get into, you guys have heard enough of my personal life. So I ordered in a huge burger and a plate of bacon cheese fries from Outback, which I ate in 5 minutes or less to the point that I nearly made myself sick. But I felt like I couldn't stop eating until I finished it. And I felt so ashamed of myself afterward. I just sat for 5 minutes and questioned my life and my choices. Then I proceeded to down two cups of coffee to use as a laxative, I'm not sure if that qualifies as bulimia or not
This isn't a regular occurrence or anything, but I low-key am concerned about this because I have enough issues and the last thing I need in my life right now is an ED, especially one that could make me fat.

Please get some help before it gets out of hand. You've made a good start by telling people you think something is wrong, the next step is to tell a good close friend. I'm watching a documentary at the moment on Amy Winehouse which is quite sad.If only someone was there to help her she would probably be still alive. Sadly all she was was a cash cow to certain people including her dad who she loved.

That's not an ED. You feel empty and people who feel empty or depressed usually eat to "fulfill" something and then feel emptier because it makes them gain weight, its a vicious cycle.

I actually caught myself following this line of thinking earlier today when I binged, which is why I became concerned.
I used to think it was no big deal that I could eat a lot in one sitting because that's what guys do sometimes and I was just taking advan1354tage of my metabolism while it's still going, but after today I looked back and realized that a lot of the time I was gorging on food I was usually upset about something or feeling lonely.

Maybe. I looked up "binge eating disorder" and it's characterized by episodes of eating way more than a normal person would in one sitting, very quickly, sometimes uncontrollably.
When I think of "emotional eating" I tend to just think of women splurging on chocolate after a breakup

I mean I wouldn't say you have an eating disorder, but binge eating is unhealthy. Reading that you at all that in 5 minutes made me nauseous tbh. And really? Laxatives? That destroys the hell out your digestive system and colon.

I don't take laxatives, but coffee has a laxative effect on many people, myself included, and I try to take advantage of that as much as possible.

I'm so happy for you hunty! You don't want to start throwing up because the stomach acid is bad for your teeth. Just use real laxatives instead of coffee and do it ALL THE TIME after EVERY MEAL. That way you can binge as much as you want!

Not an ED, it's normal, when you feel bad you often feel empty and eating food feels refreshing, like you're fulfilling yourself.
