When I watch repeats of Alice I have to cringe of how bad the acting was on that show and I have to switch it off.
Linda was not the worst but damn they were all bad.

Also, a pain in the ass to work with, apparently. Linda Lavin was reported as being difficult to work with and was jealous of Polly Holliday's popularity as Flo on the sitcom
Alice
. Even after Holliday left and her Spin-Off, Flo, ended after one season, she refused to make any guest appearances. Diane Ladd also had difficulties with Lavin and cited that as the reason she left the series after only a year.

Lavin was fine as Alice and I used to love the show. She was boosted by the support characters and in all due respect, it wouldn't be easy for anyone to step into Ellen Burstyn's shoes.
