    Every now and then I catch a rerun of Monk and enjoy watching Ted as Leland. His voice is as unique as his look.

            I think playing Captain Stottlemeyer, who started out rough in the "Monk" series, but soon became more understanding and supportive of the "defective detective," was the perfect prelude to playing the loving grandpa of a mentally-challenged young man in theb68 movie "Jimmy." Perhaps the casting director remembered seeing his excellent work on the series and knew he'd be fantastic in that movie role. He can play both manly strength and heartfelt compassion at the same time.
