I haven't seen Silence of the Lambs in years, but now I'll have to watch it again. I don't recall him in the movie either, and I only started watching Monk a couple of years ago when friends told me I had some crazy habits also. They were so right! Now I'm addicted to the show.
I think the whole cast fits in very nicely together. -

I first noticed him in Wiseguy one of the best series ever on television and knew he was going on to better things, like everyone else on that program.
He was also very good in The Mangler a movie that completely bombed & is seldom ever seen anymore. I thought it was rather good, actually.
Now, on Monk what a great role ! It's a terrible shame the series is ending, but I understand the inclination to stop it at a high point, before it jumps the shark. I will miss that series very much, and hope he goes on to bigger things. There are several great characterizations, but basically Shalhoub & Levine are the center points.
Many of us are hoping at least for an occasional Monk movie.
I'm watching Silence of the Lambs again right now. I keep wanting to jump up and yell, "Captain Stottlemeyer, put on some clothes and STOP that dancing !!"
He really didn't get enough credit for that gutsy little performance. Anyone who can get so much characterization into a really short screen time is truly a talented actor. -

So true. I was really impressed with how he threw himself into the character and seemed to just become him. The first time I saw him on
Monk
I recognized him immediately because of his distinctive voice, but I just couldn't believe my eyes and had to check imdb! Very good actor. -

I wandered over here to post something similar. He's a very subtle actor, never overdoes it even in roles that seem to welcome overacting, and always very effective. Watching Silence of the Lambs in 1994, I never would've believed you if you told me that Buffalo Bill would go on to convinc2000ingly play a gruff but lovable police captain.
