Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Larry Linville

I say this because I have the complete book of MASH. It shows a list of the actors that recieved and won awards which was most of the cast. Though there was nothing on Larry Linville being nominated for his potrayal of Frank Burns.
I think it was a shame because Mr. Linville had the hardest role to playeven Winchester was later liked. Mr Linville definatley made Burns a believable antagonist to Hawkeye, Trapper/B.J. He really got Burns down packed.actually Frank Burns was one of my favorite characters on MASH. As my topic says it's just a shame he was not nominated. Any thoughts on this?

I wonder if Frank being "the villain" had something to do with that

Yes Larry Linville did do a fantastic job playing Maj. Frank Burns. I mean like I stated in a post on here his character Frank Burns there were times where you wanted to hate him and then other times you just loved him! I felt it changed a lot after Frank left and then I understand why Jamie Farr did not want to continue wearing dresses and womens clothing so that his kids would not get teased or made fun of but it is part of acting. I sort of felt that is when the show changed after the fifth season when Larry Linville left and then Radar who was played by Gary Burghoff. I hope I pernounced his name ok.
He should have received an award for his character in the show.
