Johhny Depp as Jack Sparrow is not a good English accent. It's a funny parody of Keith Richards, who speaks like no-one else in the world.
Johnny could pull off an English accent, though. He does it in Sleepy Hollow, but it still kinda stylised for the time period. He did great Scottish in Neverland. I think he could turn his hand to any accent if he wanted to. -

I wish they would have let her be English. I definitely pick up on her accent so it's pretty distracting. And no, she doesn't sound Canadian.
I was surprised to learn that Catherine Zeta-Jones and Kate Winslet were British after seeing them play Americans. If she's not able to pull it off like this, why not work it into the story? The whole world does not have to be American.
plus I have visions of CSI: Scotland Yard! -

I agree they should've just let her character be British.
I don't see how this is 'racist' or even how British and American are different races or even races at all. Yes, there are a variety of different accents in the US (and in Britain), and she doesn't sound like any one of them. Sometimes one, then another, then? An American actor who tried to play a British character but still retained their American speech would deserve criticism for it, too. It would be more xenophobic, I guess, if people just hated her because she's British, but people saying that are, to be polite, 'odd'.
She seems like a g2000ood enough actress I guess, once you get past her distracting 'accent.' I wish it weren't far too late to make her character British.
Dominic West was mentioned as a British actor who does a plausible American accent on The Wire. Er, so plausible that I thought until halfway through the second season that his character was British. I still like him (a lot, in fact), but his attempt at an American accent is awful. -

american and british are nationalities not races but yes they should have let her character be british it isnt like she has an accent that americans would have trouble understanding. isn't that what they have done with claire forlani on CSI: NY she has a british accent (correct me if i'm wrong) i haven't seen any of the episodes yet though they haven't aired here

The first few times she appeared in Season 7 I thought her American accent was getting bettermaybe it was just wishful thinking because it's currently as noticeable as ever.
And yeah, I don't understand why her character couldn't just use her natural accent. -

I am an American who watches CSI on a regular basis and have never noticed anything off with her accent. I'm shocked to learn that she isn't American. This whole business about how American roles should only be played by American actors is total nonsense. Acting is acting. I enjoy Louise's character on CSI, I love her no nonsense attitude.
