So silly. Sophia "explained" the incident decades ago. And what is to explain? Jayne's breasts DID literally pop out of her dress. It was the end of Jayne being taken seriously at ALL.
Jayne was lots of fun and a smart cookie. This was an event that should have been avoided. You can "steal" another star's thunder (which was Jayne's intent) without going that far. It was obscene for the era.

There's a very pretty photo of Jayne and Sophia with Jayne standing just before the "exposure" and both are smiling sweetly, La Loren is unaware of what is about to happen. I was kind of surprised she put it in her book (as I recall she only mentioned Jayne briefly in a somewhat unflatteringly comparsion to Marilyn Monroe saying something like MM did not come across as artifical as other sex symbols. I can't recall if I've seen the Loren book pic elsewhere, everyone goes for the "classic" shot.

Sophia always spoke quite well of Monroe, tho they never met. She felt she and MM had something in common, via their unhappy childhoods. When Monroe died, Sophia said, "She was a beautiful woman, a wonderful actress and a real star."

Bridget Bardot also had really wonderful things to say about Marilyn though they only met once when being presented to Queen Elizabeth. Jayne, always a showman, er showwoman should have had a much more satisfying career. She was an astoundingly strong woman, much more so than Marilyn. Unfortunately she was put in a position to threaten MM, then FOX lost interest when Marilyn couldn't have cared less and did what she chose to do FOX or no FOX. Then Wallstreet took over FOX and cancelled Jaynes contract altogether in the summer of 62. Yes, some of it was Jaynes fault with antics like this, but then again it was hardly fair what FOX did to her.

That is so silly. That would not even rate as a scandal nowadays.
