Personally, I just can't understand why someone with such impressive intellectual gifts wouldn't want to actually make something of it, rather than spend their life downplaying it for lesser accomplishments.
Imagine if someone was potentially brilliant enough to develop a cure to cancer, but chose to "suppress" that intellect.

Her ambition was in the motion picture industry. There's also that 'daddy complex' since she lost hers so young. She wanted to feel loved and wanted tons of attention.
