Actually most of the classic star boards have pretty much dried up unless it's like the boards of Marilyn Monroe, Bette Davis, and Joan Crawford and then those are pretty troll heavy. I think it's a lot of things, the novelty of message boards wearing off, the economy with people buying fewer dvds or memorabilia, fans getting older, younger people just not into older movies like earlier generations with so much stuff out there to catch their interest, etc. It's also tiresome to see so many people on the message boards bitching, picking fights, making rude comments or posts, etc. and I think it's driving people away. It seems there are at least as many people on IMDb who use it as a way to relieve whatever frustrations they have as there are genuine movie fans.

Trueeven I generally am using IMDB as a reference source nowadays. The message boards just ceased to be as fun as it once was. And it really was. A lot of the fun wore off when my friend TROY (aka Emmanuel) passed away 2 years ago. It just isn't the same without him around here.

You are so correct. I hate the fighting and name-calling, but it's much more fun to have a healthy differing opinion with somebody who realizes their idol was only humanwhenever anybody starts in on "the greatestmost beautifulmost talented..etc" then there is no debate with that person. Have a sense of humor!
