there's never been a picture. You have to visit, photography is not allowed, you can get the death penalty for such an offense if you are a chinese citizen
I think that's ridiculous. I understand that many Chinese viewed him as a God, but stillthe death penalty? Communism can really go to unfair extremes sometimes.
                I gotta get a bazooka!

Maybe that's what they tell them just to be sure there's no pictures taken. I think that did a pretty good job.
Nothing stops people over in the US from taking pictures of the declaration of independence, even though it's prohibited.

Outrageous claims require outrageous proof, and that person (whose account has since been deleted, so I can't demand proof of him anymore) didn't provide any. It's not so much that communism goes to "unfair extremes" as that anti-communists feel free to pull outrageous claims about communist countries straight out of their asses without a shred of evidence, and state it as fact without being challenged because of the prevalence of the anti-communist narrative of history.
I very highly doubt you can get the death penalty for taking a picture of Mao's remains. However it is considered disrespectful and cameras aren't allowed in the mausoleum. Chances are though you'd just be punished with a fine if you did it.
The people, and the people alone, are the motive force in the making of history.
