Always wondered why they put cheerleaders in their uniforms when it's not pep rally or game day. Like on Glee, they wear theirs everyday. Guess producers or whoever makes the decision for costumes aren't up to date on what cheerleaders wear. You can show them once in the outfit so we know but after that, they need to let the girls wear other clothes. Like in the 'Night of the Comet', they showed Kelli in it when she got home but would have thought they'd let her change before heading to the mall.

Also, Tv is more comicbookish these days, like the archie comics where football players wear their wntire uniform to math class, and nerds always wear glasses. Its a writing tool to keep the dynamics of the characters clear in viewers minds. i know its not reality, In reality football players may really be nerds, and nerds may be super athletic.

When I played football in high school all we wore was our football heresies the day of the game whether we were home or away for the game. You are correct that people who are very book smart could be a jock or a person who is a jock could be a nerd as well.

Now from what I remembered in being in high school the only days that cheerleaders and Pom Pom girls wearing their uniforms is the day of the game.
I did not mind Ms. Maroney wearing her cheer leading outfit through a majority of the film. She was cute wearing it!
