Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Mae Marsh

This was probably her last real "spotlight" role where she was cast for her name and recognition. Most of her later roles were "uncredited".
She ended up with her face pretty much covered by a mask, and she was supposed to be the transformed figure of the White Queen, played by comedian Louise Fazenda.
As a kid I was confused when I saw "Alice" for the first time: I almost thought Fazenda played both the Queen and the Sheep.
It was only in later years that I found out exactly who Mae Marsh was (I knew she had been somewhat prominent - or they wouldn't have cast her in "Alice" with all the other then-major stars).
I always thought it ironic that she played that Sheep after all those tear-jerker roles for D.W. Griffith.
