    There was controversy over her being the 111cyoung, 20 something co-host on the show, that she didn't seem to be right in line with the other co-hosts (maybe that she wasn't the right person for a show like The View). So, from what I've heard, she was fired from the show in 1999. Lisa Ling was later selected as Debbie's replacement towards the end of 1999, and would go on for a successful 3 year stint on the series, leaving by the end of 2002. In Lisa's case, she was not fired. She chose to leave to pursue other career oppurtunities. The gang on The View respected Lisa so much that they didn't even bother looking for her replacement until an entire year later, at the end of 2003 which was Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
    Its always been the spot of the young co-host that has been going through changes on The View's history, but now its even more than that since the series started in 1997: Meredith Vieira's departure for the Today Show on NBC as Katie Couric's replacement, and the abrupt departure of Star Jones Reynolds has really brought a large change for the first time regarding the other co-hosts.

      That can't be it. Babwa has had on the actors/actresses that play her on SNL, and some were even DURING Debbie's time. Can't tell me that she got offended by her, unless she did it all the time on and off camera.

        Accoring to some, she was "stupid", "immature".
        That can be said about all of them. They're a hypocritical bunch of women.

          Debbie has said on The Daily Ten before that she was fired from the show.

            I've read that Debbie was fired due to a personality conflict between her and Barbara Walters. I think Barbara was totally wrong to fire Debbie and I was surprised that Debbie agreed to guest host the show last year after Star was booted off the show.

              If she acted on that show as she does on The daily 10, I'm not surprised she got fired. She must be the most irritating on air personality in the world. Ugh!

                    Well she was a hot blonde in her 20s.
                    What the hell did they expect to get Einstein?
                    There were also other reports that she would get into arguments with the other female host and she didn't back down from anyone of them. Thats why they brought in Lisa Ling who never got into arguments and followed the other womens lead.
                    Now if thats the reason they fired her. Then thats pretty stupid because they brought in Rosie Odonell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck who are worse then Debbie ever was.

                      It could also be the difference between a 20 something and an 70 something trying to do a show together. GMAB. How can you speak intelligently with all these co-hosts having different views anyway?
                      But put someone in there who is way too young and doesn't care about current eventsyou got a problem.
                      I am shocked that Elizabeth has been able to hang on. She must have a great relationship with Barbara.
                      Supposedly they all wear ear pieces so they can hear the producers tell them when to chime in.
                      So what was going on with Debbie? Didn't anybody ever speak into her earpiece? Or maybe that idea came about AFTER Debbie left!
                      ]
                      Yes, Rosie lived for controversy, look at her life. But Elizabeth is actually pretty shy, so I have a feeling she pipes up and causes conflict because if she didn't, they wouldn't need her. She is after all the ONLY conservative in a sea of 5 liberals.
                      And who says the media isn't biased toward liberalism? We have proof right on The View.
